Kaduna NUJ Polls: Team Farida Visits Federal Information, Freedom Radio, Invicta FM, Liberty TV/Radio

*says she is constitutionally cleared to contest

Stepping up its campaign ahead of the NIgeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council elections billed for December 16 by the Credentials Committee, Team Farida has taken a tour of more media establishments within Kaduna metropolis.

Tuesday's campaign commenced at the Federal Information Chapel, where they were hosted by executives and staff.

Acting Zonal Director Federal Ministry of Information Kaduna State, Adijat Dupe Saibu in her remarks, expressed delight by Farida Abubakar's bold step in vying for the top position in Kaduna Council.

"We are happy that Hajia Farida is coming out as the Chairman of NUJ.

"As the NAWOJ chairman, Farida Abubakar performed excellently well, and after she left, we from Federal Information decided not  to attend NAWOJ meetings.
She will have our full support," she declared.

Chief Information Officer of Federal Information Kaduna, Hajiya Adamu Ciroma in her remarks, wished her the best.

At Invicta FM, Head News, Mr. Didam Laah in his remarks, harped on the need for the NUJ to be better organised.


He said it is unfortunate that presently, advent of smart phones and social media has made journalism an all comers affair, stressing the need for measures to distinguish real journalists from charlatans.

Chairman NUJ Chapel of Liberty TV/Radio, Mohammed Idris in his remarks when the team arrived their office, said that he has known Farida right from his days of covering news at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House and is proud of her track records.

He said he was optimistic that if a leader with wealth of experience that she posseses emerges Kaduna NUJ Chairman, the council will be set for unprecedented progress.

At all the media houses visited on Tuesday, Farida told them that according to the powers vested on the credentials committee by the NUJ Constitution, she is cleared for the contest, contrary to disinformation being spread by some detractors, who are obviously scared of facing her at a free and fair polls.

At Freedom Radio, Head of News, Nura Mada said that as a professional body, the NUJ deserves persons of unquestionable character and integrity to lead members.

He told them that he was impressed by the composition of the campaign team, comprising senior colleagues that he has much respect for.

Also speaking at all the visited media houses, the Director General, Team Farida Campaign, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson  said that Farida is a seasoned journalist with over 20 years of experience.

"Because of her track records, the candidate contested for Chairman, KSMC chapel and defeated even male counterparts.

"Based on her records, journalists decided to persuade her to contest," he added.
