By BASHIR BELLO, Abuja
Chairman House Committee on Health  Care Services Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu has commended the Registrar General, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria,Dr Farouk Umar Abubakar and his team for taking the council to a greater height.
The Law maker commended the management of the council for being transparent, judicious, prudent and for implementing the budgetary proposals sent to the National Assembly previous.
"This morning we were here at the Nursing Council to perform one of our constitutional duties which is to oversight the Nursing Council. We were here last year.
We are here now to assess what was done from January this to date so that we can assess the performances while preparing for the 2022 budget appropriation for the council

Alter Konsult Provides Win-win Solution To NIgeria's VAT War

To lay to rest the current imbroglio causing tension over the collection of Value Added Tax, a group, Alter Konsult has proffered a win-win formular that will get NIgeria's economy back on track.

The suggestion was put forward in a statement jointly signed by its chairman,  Dahiru Mohammed Dahiru Umar and secretary, Emmanuel Daniel Ochi, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Friday September 17, 2021.

"For the harmonious working of the model, we recommend a new revenue sharing formula where all revenue generated is distributed equitably, as captured by the incidence of VAT modified.

"The solution to this problem cannot come from the current steps being taken by both states and federal government via FIRS but rather a holistic systemic solution to this systemic problem which should take into cognizance the political, economic and cultural variables of Nigeria.

"Irrespective of whoever wins in the courts will not solve the existing problem rather a solution which promotes national policy thrust that focuses on national unity while preserving our diversity.

"Also, the need for economic synergy amongst various elements within the national economy as indices for successful performance of the economy should be identified,"  Alter Konsult said.

Read the full statement below:

PRESS RELEASE BY ALTER-KONSULT OF THE CURRENT CONFLICT OVER VAT

The current conflict over VAT between Rivers, Lagos, potentially, other states of the federation on one end and the federal government through FIRS on the other end have long existed; this is a Pandora’s Box.

The conflict has long existed within the entire tax system of Nigeria not just VAT.

This is evidenced by the continuous systemic corruption, difficulty in doing business, increased agitations to restructure, increasing social, political and economic crises bedevilling the country.

The increasing call for improvement in internally generated revenue (IGR) by states and local governments will reveal more of this kind of conflicts inherent within our tax system. Nigeria is a country on a defined geographical location with federal, states and local governments operating with little or no synergy within them.

Where will the states and local governments generate revenue different from that of the federal government? Of course it has to be from the same business entities, the same business activities and the same economy.

The states and local governments will only resort to creative taxation in form of levies to improve IGR which only makes business more difficult.

Also, a system where tax generated or paid by individuals in one part of the country becomes credited to another part of the country where the head office is located will be considered unfair by the part of the country where the tax was generated.

Or where parts of the country receive tax revenue without any corresponding input in generating that tax will be considered unfair by the parts of the country where the revenue is generated.

The problems are compounded due to the ethno-religious diversity of Nigeria and enterprising nature of Nigerians.

This has undermined and exacerbated the problems of ethnic balance and national integration; consequently our uniqueness and strength as a nation with diversity in the groupings has posed increasing challenges which at present threatens the fabric of our national unity.

The solution to this problem cannot come from the current steps being taken by both states and federal government via FIRS but rather a holistic systemic solution to this systemic problem which should take into cognizance the political, economic and cultural variables of Nigeria.

Irrespective of whoever wins in the courts will not solve the existing problem rather a solution which promotes national policy thrust that focuses on national unity while preserving our diversity.

Also, the need for economic synergy amongst various elements within the national economy as indices for successful performance of the economy should be identified.

Most importantly is a resource, revenue allocation formula as spelt out from the interplay of the concepts of taxation, unity in diversity, synergy, democracy, comparative advantage and protectionism with specific references to the economic structure of government. This is the solution we therefore proffer!

The model, a workable solution as presented by Alter-Konsult proposes that Value Added Tax (VAT) should be modified to be similar to Sales Tax and positioned to serve as an index for economic activities in all parts of the country: this should also serve as the base for revenue distribution.

VAT collection and administration should be a joint effort between Federal (FIRS), States (SIRS) and Local Government (LIRS) so as to create unified tax system, avoid multiple taxes and increase tax base.

Doing this will enable government at all levels function synergistically and focus on the provisions of fiscal variables necessary for economic growth within their levels while eliminating inefficiencies.

The fiscal variables—taxes, the quality and quantity of services (infrastructure) provided by government—are what policymakers can control and they will be able to know what effect these variables have on economic growth and firm location.

The impact of taxes on firms will be easy to measure because accurate measurement relies in part on the incidence of the tax.

We also propose the adoption of a mixed economic structure that will enable the local and state governments concentrate on the economic activities that is indigenous.

For the harmonious working of the model, we recommend a new revenue sharing formula where all revenue generated is distributed equitably, as captured by the incidence of VAT modified.

Our nation has got to the point where, more than ever, the needed wisdom and understanding, stemming from a rare compact knowledge of a workable probability has to be researched, well-articulated, appraised objectively and authentically utilized in order to come out of our doldrums.

This is what the solution proffered by Alter-Konsult based on the book titled “Political Economy and Taxation – A Practical Systemic Platform for Good Governance” has tried to achieve and, if well embraced, it will help the nation out of this quagmire. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” - Eliza Cook.

The condition of a society, good or bad, is the outflow of communal character and as such no nation ever grows, develops and stabilizes without shared values that can bring about these needs.

If the reality of a viable communal character is firmly believed in by most and is established in the polity, governance at all levels will be seamless, effective and economic growth will be  recorded at all levels and parts of the country.

We have lingered too long on the blame-game and non-working ideologies.

Let us revisit our system with a purview to review, discard unhelpful content and work with new concepts that will surely bring about different and better results. This call should be within a defined time that will allow for careful review and accepted by all stakeholders.

The model being presented which will surely help in the amicable resolution of the conflict and salvage the nation from the social, economic and political precipice we have been sitting on and ultimately restore the dignity of Nigerians. Alter-Kosult is very much willing to make this presentation when called upon by all stakeholders.

A demonstration of this model was presented at:
1. Nigeria Union of Journalist Kaduna chapter;
2. Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna;
3. Alter-Konsult office in Kaduna to Journalists.

The model has also been submitted to:
1. National House of Representative Committee on the Review of the Constitution;
2. The Joint Tax Board of the FIRS;
3. The Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission;
Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
For: Alter Konsult

Fani-Kayode's Lame Claim That Bala Mohammed, Two Others Would Defect To APC Laughable - Northern Youth Leaders Forum

A Frontline group made up.of over 100 youth groups, Northern Youths Leaders Forum (NYLF)  has described as laughable, claims by former Aviation Minister, Chief Fami Fani-Kayode that he would Influence Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed and two other People's Democratic Party (PDP) governors to dump their party as lame and laughable.

NYLF President, Comrade Elliot Afiyo expressed this at a world press conference in Yola on Friday September 17, 2021.

"We observed the defection by Chief Femi Fani Kayode (FFK) from PDP to APC  yesterday with little or no surprise.

"We strongly believed that this is the time and season for defections. It is our  belief that whenever someone defects, it is obvious that he or she is pursuing something or something is pursuing him or her.

"However, we are surprised and astonished with the reason and claims of Chief Femi  Fani Kayode (FFK) for his defection, how he influenced the defection, of three  PDP’s Governors to APC and his lame claim that he is in the process of influencing the defection of another three PDP’s Governors to APC," Afiyo said.

NYLF said that  while they  remain aloof, tacit and obstetric to his claims that God told him to defect  to APC and how he influenced Governors Umahi, Ayade and Matawalle’s defection,  they take seriously with unassuming exception, his claim that Governors Ifeanyi  Unwuanyi, Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde are on their way to APC through his  influence.

"We are odiously convinced that FFK has the right to use his only and available  political weapon and value which is his tongue, we make bold to say that FFK as we know him, has made a lunatic and vain claim to placate and please his Taskmasters and Paymasters.

"We are not surprised with this claim because former President Obasanjo said it on  the 30th of August, 2018 when we visited him and I quote ‘”Fani Kayode is my boy,  give him food, he will praise and sing for you. (Check Punch Newspaper 31st August 2018).

"We sincerely believed and truly too, that this is part of his praise  singing which he is known for," he said.

The group stated categorically that Governor Bala Mohammed will never dump the PDP for APC.

"WR want to state clearly without mincing words that Senator Bala Mohammed  has not and will never defect to APC and also, he has never at anytime discussed the issue of defection with FFK.

"Senator Bala Mohammed is a Nationalist who  always places the National interest above his personal interest.

"He has and still  passing through persecutions, humiliations, prosecutions, character  assignations, campaigns of calumny, frustrations, insults and even spiritual  attacks.

"In all these, God has given him the grace to remain steadfast, focused  and committed to his ideals which he always defines.

"Therefore, there is no  number of forces which he has not encountered that are pursuing him which  would make him to defect to APC," NYLF stressed.

The group said that it is a general and public knowledge that the nation is sinking and there is  every need for patriots and advanced citizens to come together to rescue Nigeria.

"Bala Mohammed by acts of commission or omission, has proved to us that he will be part and parcel of the Rescue Mission.

"No doubt with people like  Bala Mohamed in the boat, Nigeria and Nigerians will be rescued in 2023 from  the National conspiracy by the few elites which FFK is a prominent member by his actions," they added.

On the Southern Governors’ demand for a Southern President, NYLF described it as a good development, however, warning that it does not reflect realities on ground.

"It is a good political development that the Southern Governors are now speaking  collectively irrespective of political leanings.

"The call by these Governors is a
welcome development but it does not reflect the reality on ground.
Nigeria presently is facing an uncommon and unconventional situation which  requires uncommon and unconventional solution by uncommon and unconventional  President.

" It would be recalled that former President Jonathan was sincerely committed to dealing with the security challenges between 2010 and 2011 but was  frustrated by some Northern elites who brainwashed the Northerners especially the  rural North into believing that Jonathan was killing Northerners.

"Jonathan was  completely blocked by the same Northern elites from purchasing arms to fight  insurgency.

"It is our strong belief and candid opinion that Nigeria needs a bold and  courageous Northerner who will take the bull by the horn and tackle the  security challenges which is our major national challenge for now even if it  means killing the trouble makers if possible, so as to bring desired peace," they advised.

The group further at the briefing, pointed out that they are impressed by the massive infrastructural development in Adamawa State, endorsing him for another term in 2023.

"We are highly impressed by the infrastructural developments in Adamawa State.

"We  observed with great disbelief that such a feat could be achieved in just two years in  Adamawa State that is not part of the oil producing States. We sincerely commend
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and his team.

"In view of this thereof, we want to assure him that NYLF will do whatever is possible
within the confines and ambit of the law, to ensure that he comes back in 2023 to  continue with his good works.

"To this end, we wish to appeal to other parties in Adamawa State to collapse  their structures, support and vote for Fintiri during the Gubernatorial elections  come 2023," they said.

NYLF assured Nigerians that come 2023, "we will have a President  that will be referred to as Nigeria’s President of Nigeria’s extraction not Northern or  Southern extraction.

"We should not be distracted, discouraged or despair because of people that are  identifying with or Conspirators because of a pot of porridge," they said.

Sen.Ndume Okays Loans For Dev, Commends Military For Onslaught Against Bandits

By BASHIR BELLO Abuja.
The Senator representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Muhammed Ali Ndume has commended the military for taking the fight to the bandits in Zamfara and Katsina states

The law maker who was answering questions from Journalists stated that the bandits are no better than common criminals and thieves, thus asking for amnesty for, or entering into dialogue with them does not arise. He explained that the only language these criminals understand is that of force,
"I am glad the military had taking the fight to them and the must be commended.

He also charged the media to support the military in the fight against banditry.
" You in the media should appreciate what the military is doing in Zamfara as regards the fight against kidnappers.

The law maker also disagreed with Sheik Ahmad Gumi that the government has not exhausted all avenues of dialogue. " We should dialogue with people who Kidnapped people's wives and rape them, we shouldn't dialogue with people who kill others ", he said

On the burning issue of whether Nigeria should get more loans in order to develop the country, the Senator explained that he is in support of Nigeria borrowing to develop critical infrastructure such as roads, health facilities and others. He, however added that loans should not be obtained in order to pay salaries as that would amount to a waste.

" When you need to develop, and there is no money, if there are organisations which are willing to lend the where with to develop and you have the means of repaying these loans, the go ahead and get the loans.

"What should not be accepted is borrowing which is not attached to a particular developmental project  or when you borrow without the means of repayment and when you borrow to pay salaries then, it is not good at all.

"The law maker further added that Nigeria's borrowing is tied to projects and so there is no need for fear that such loans would be a waste.

The Borno South Senate also defended the APC from allegations that the party and President Muhammadu Buhari has failed the country.

Ndume said that the APC had not failed Nigeria since it has revamped the economy of the country, albeit very slowly. Ndume also said that though the APC has no fulfilled it's campaign promises of providing security for the state, revamping the economy and tackling corruption. Nonetheless, the President has lived up to his promise of fighting the menace.

"Before the advent of the APC, corruption was very much pronounced in all fabrics of the country even the Government is not immuned to corruption
But today, we have reduced the scourges of corruption to an all time low.

"Nobody is stealing openly anymore. In the same vein, no one can claim that President is corrupt not pampers corruption. Similarly, the President has not been linked to any corruption scandal.

The lawmaker also welcomed the former minister of Aviation under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Femi Fani Kayode into the fold of All Progressives Congress APC, Ndume explained that Kayode was a founding member of the APC but he was angered and so he left the party.

States Should Coordinator Attacks On Bandits,Hon Muntari

By BASHIR BELLO, Abuja.

The Chairman House Commitee on FCT Judiciary at the House of Representatives, Hon Dandutse Muntari Mohammed has advocated for death penalty for capital crimes such as murder and Banditry as one of the means solving the current menace of violence threatening the nation.

" Even in Islam and Christianity, if you kill someone, you should be killed. That is what our laws should be.
It is happening today in China, in Russia, in Saudi Arabia and in Turkey.if you kill, you shall be killed.
He further added,
"If you continue keeping hardened criminals at prisons, they would in turn corrupt those that are just there for minor offences.
In my view, there should be death penalty for capital offendes.

Kaduna Commence Second Edition of School Sports Festival Next Week

The Kaduna  State Ministry  of Sports Development has hinted that the second edition of the state's  Schools Sports Festival is expected to begin next weekend.

This was disclosed by the  Director of Sports, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim during a meeting with zonal sports directors and top ministry staff to fine tune preparations for the sports festival.

Representing  the Permanent Secretary,  he said that already, they have prepared fixtures for the sports, which is expected to feature over 500 schools in the state.

"We have been given directives to start the competition immediately schools resumes.

"By next week Saturday, we will start the second edition of the schools sports festival," he assured.

According to him, they intended to have six events this time, against the four held in the first edition.

He said the events to be held are  however,  limited to four, which are;  football, volleyball, handball and athletics.

"We limited the events because we have so many activities coming up within this period,  including the National Youth Games (NYG) and  the Kaduna State Sports Festival," he said.

He explained that  school sports revitalisation is one of the core mandates of the ministry given by the Kaduna State Government.

"This is one of the mandates given by his Excellency, the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai to the ministry. We would have done second edition last year, but COVID-19 prevented it," he informed.

He was optimistic that this year, more schools are expected to feature.

"We have 12 educational zones. Last time we had 500 secondary schools that participated in 2019. This time, we will have more than that," he said.

"The 2019 schools sports united so many of the participants, who at the end when they were seperating, were even shedding tears as a result of bonding  they had during the games," he said.

The meeting had in attendance representatives from all the 12  educational  zones in the state.

AYC Lampoons AYA over call for Emiefiele's resignation

The Arewa Youth Consultative  Forum(AYCF) has lampooned a new group known as Arewa Youth Assembly, which on Monday asked the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele to "resign his position" over his  alleged failure to manage the country’s economy sustainably"

A media release  signed  by the group's National President,  Yerima Shettima, noted that the Arewa Assembly leadership "is blind to the reality of not just the Nigerian economy but that of the entire world, ravaged by the Covid-19 epidemic, notably the United States, where millions lost their jobs and big investments are still folding up".

It would be recalled that the Arewa Assembly, which spoke through its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, alleged that the apex bank boss’ presidential ambition was the reason behind Emefiele's bid to "destroy the Nigerian  economy", a position the AYCF described as "meaningless  and childish"

Alhaji Yerima, in the AYCF's swift response to what it described as the Arewa Assembly's  "misplaced attack, wrong transfer of aggression and desperation  to attract public attention", said the youth group "has got it all twisted" on Nigeria's struggling economy under the covid-19 pandemic and unprecedented banditry and kidnapping  that threatened trades and incomes.

"The Arewa Assembly obviously didn't  do their homework  well, did no research of current facts and figures. Covid19 led to a 60% decline in crude oil prices in the first half of 2020 led to a decline in revenue, foreign exchange earnings; output of key sectors like manufacturing  and service industries and the economy  fell into recession in the 3rd quarter of 2020 after two consecutive quarters of negative growth of 5.1% in the second quarter  of 2020 and 3.6% in the 3rd quarter of same year" AYCF recalled.

"The AYCF therefore takes exception to this unjustified attack on the CBN led by Emefiele, devoid of any sound economic arguments but built around mere lamentations.
We also donot think it is fair to single out only one official of government for castigation in the media by self-styled youth groups such as the Arewa Assembly, without adequately persuasive or convincing reasons. Take it or leave it, Emefiele has done his best to help poor Northerners with start-up capital for small-scale agric businesses, introduced special grants  to cushion the effects of the covid19 pandemic on households income and pumped N23billion providing  isolation  centres and some billions more into efforts towards stabilizing the national economy in more ways than one; including BDCs, to try to boost the exchange rate, and this is right now a work in progress.

" The CBN Governor is capable of defending the apex bank anyday, but we  would not like a group claiming to be speaking on behalf of the North to raise questions that would make Northerners look like learners of elementary  economics. It is also not about regional sentiment because economic experts have taken time to explain some of the circumstances leading to the current  challenges and we dare say we don't care where where the CBN Governor  hails from, when discussing current  economic challenges affecting the whole world", the AYCF emphasized.

2023: Ebonyi indigenes tackle Umahi for praying to have another Buhari ...Demand apology

The Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (AESID) has described as unfortunate and disappointing comment credited to the state governor David Nweze Umahi wherein he prayed and expressed a wish for God to give Nigeria another President like Muhammadu Buhari as his successor in 2023.

The group demanded that the governor should apologise to Nigerians.

In a statement signed Monday by its President, Amb. Paschal Oluchukwu, said from indication the governor made the statement out of sycophancy and bootlicking.

Umahi was reported to have made the statement while addressing State House Correspondents after an official visit to the President at the Presidential villa, Abuja recently.

The Ebonyi indigenes, however said: "It was not surprising to us and the rest of reasonable Ebonyians that the said comments and wish attracted the kinds of umbrage of negative reactions from various segments of the Nigerian public who have worn the Buhari shoe in the last six years and therefore know where it truly pinches them. Any wonder many have attributed the sad comments as one coming from a leader seeking political survival.

"First is that we may even wish to clarify that Umahi is rather seeking for political protection from the centre having lost touch with realities and his people. We have been drumming it that in the first instance, Umahi's uncontrollable greed with it's attendant primitive acquisition of wealth mainly by deliberate amassing of public funds led him to join the ruling party in order to avoid being harassed or threatened by the party which has severally been accused of using anti-graft agencies to intimidate and harass opposition leaders.

"The welter of reactions and condemnations that has so far greeted Umahi's weird desire for another President like Buhari- a man who has pillaged the Nigerian economy to almost beyond redemption, promoted ethnicity and hatred, perculiarly for the Igbos whom Umahi pretends to lead as the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum amidst the worrisome insecurity, fears and unbridled apprehensions Nigerians have been daily made to live in by a Buhari Government that had vowed to end Boko Haram in just a matter of months upon ascension to power in 2015 proves the unpopularity of both the government and it's fading bootlIckers cum sycophantic obsequious conformists which has become an art for Umahi and his few co-travellers.

"It is utterly saddening but not very surprising that the comment is coming from the Governor of a State like Ebonyi whose sad economic realities shows it has remained the poorest in every indices of human capital development in the entire Southern Nigeria.

"Yet, Umahi in his customary effing is desperately busy ass-licking the North with a vague promise that he would be made to occupy Nigeria's seat of power in 2023. Ironically, this sad comment, which we believe is not really borne out of Umahi's lack of understanding of the realities of the pains of the Nigerian masses but rather buttresses how sycophantic Umahi is as a leader, preferring to live consistently in a fool's paradise just to curry favour and continue in his blind pursuit of ambition.

With his shocking excellent assessment of Buhari’s government, Nigerians can now see that Umahi cannot really be any better than the man he idolises amidst the lack and endemic cum anthropogeni poverty that both the government at the centre and in Ebonyi has created. This alone should bring to an end his jamboree pursuit (on behalf of Igbos as he often feigns) of a Presidential ambition.

While expressing disappointment and demanding retraction by the governor, the group said Ebonyians can no longer stomach the shame of such "unguarded comments."

"We at AESID which has remained a frontline advocacy group just like the rest of reasonable Ebonyians are ashamed of the Governor's weird comments and hereby demands he withdraws same with profuse apologies; first to Ebonyians and then, the generality of Nigerians within 48 hours. Else, we don't see how he can be exonerated from the plights the Buhari government has made our Igbo brothers and sisters suffer, including the security threats, harassments and intimidations which our South East Region has suffered under Buhari's administration."

"We conclude by reiterating our belief that this should happen first and foremost before he proceeds for a psychiatric evaluation as rightly recommended by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike."

Kapam: Kaduna Community Appeals To Govt, KRPC For Link Bridge, Health Centre

Following the collapse of the bridge linking Kapam Community to Nissi Village, residents have made a passionate appeal to the Kaduna State Government through its road agency KADRA, Chikun Local Government Area authorities and the Kaduna Petroleum Refinery Corporation (KRPC) to make efforts in reconstructing it.

The appeal was made on Saturday September 11, 2021, when our correspondent visited the area on a community journalism tour.
They lamented that the link bridge which was constructed by the late village head collapsed three years ago after the bunkers caved in owing to water pressure from the stream that flows through the community.

A resident of the community, Honourable Shehu Ango told our reporter that the collapse of the bridge has caused them untold hardship as they have to turn around through the KRPC access road.

"We are appealing to all tiers of government to come to our aid and fix this critical infrastructure in our community," he said.

Speaking further, Honourable Ango who is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), praised the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai for the massive urban renewal project in the state, which has placed Kaduna among the too cities in the country.

"We are hopeful that our amiable and result oriented Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai will see this report and come to our aid.

"He has transformed Kaduna beyond our expectations and we are looking forward to being beneficiaries of his historic infrastructural interventions in Kaoam Community," he said.

Also speaking, a resident, who simply identified herself as Mrs. Yohanna appealed to the KRPC management to earmark the KAPAM bridge as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

"Our community is the closest to the Kaduna Refinery. We appreciate them because some years ago, they intervened through CSR and renovated our only primary school. We appeal to them to urgently come to our aid and do this bridge," she added.

Mrs. Yohanna also called on the Kaduna State and Chikun governments to assist in the bridge project, as well as consider the community for a health centre, which she said, none is in the community at present.

A tour round the community by our correspondent, revealed that the fast growing area, is also in need orlf motorable roads and drainages.

LG congress: APC group denies irregularities in Benue chapter

LG congress: APC group denies irregularities in Benue chapter

A group of patriotic APC members in Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency Benue state on the aiges of Likeminds, has frowned at a report  published by an online alleging irregularities in the last Local Government Area congress in the state

The report, which quoted unknown sources, had claimed that the consensus APC Chairman for Ado Local Government Area Hon. Ikese Echo Benjamin is of no political value to the party.

The report also accused wife of the Minister of Special Duties, Chief Mrs Regina Akume through her aide, Anna Itodo and some members of the Ibrahim Mashi-led committee of turning the exercise into a money-making venture.

However, in a statement signed Friday in Abuja, by the Coordinator of the group, Hon. Ogbu Obande, said, Ikese, who has won elections in his Akpoge Ogblolo Ward of Agila district right from the time of ACN can not be of less political advantage to the Party.

The group described the allegation as baseless and untrue.

According to Obande, “To set the record straight, Chief Mrs Regina Akume is the mother of Benue and all APC faithfuls are her children. She does not indulge in illicit act none her aides as canvassed by the unknown author.”

He said the report was a deliberate attempt to smear the image of APC leader, George Akume.

The statement added, “Though, we have uncovered the authors from Ado and Otukpo Local Government Areas, we want them to desist from tarnishing the image of our leader and the  Party platform through which they are seeking  political offices.

“We never wanted to respond to the fake report because it was attributed to a ghost, but to set the record straight and avoid some elements against misleading the good people of Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency.

“This group views these allegations as smear campaign against the former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Chief Steve Lawani, Mrs. Regina Akume, Miss Anna Itodo, a governorship aspirant, Dr. Mathias Byuan and other party stakeholders from Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency.

“We want to state it categorically that at no point did Miss Itodo receive any money from Chief Steven Lawani, Sunny Oche or Dr. Matthias Byuan to edit the congress lists for Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo local government areas.

“The sponsored article is a clear voice of Jacob but hand of Essau, he the failure of the said source to reveal his/her identity.

“Surprisingly, the mendacious report has been making the rounds claimed Anna Itodo said any aspirants who fails to settle her will not make it to the 2023 general elections is wicked and will kill the party in Idomaland.

“We can say this without fear or favour that the exercise in Ado and the entire Enone was peaceful without any rancour.

“It is unfortunate Sahara Reporters, member of the fourth estate of the realm failed to balance its report by reaching out to Miss Itodo and party stakeholders for comment before publishing.

“We want to make it clear that the report should be discarded in entirety as it is laced with hatred and clear attempt to pitch leaders and members of the APC in Enone against each other.

“We urge members of the APC on the constituency to remain resolute and supportive to the new leadership in our quest to regain power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which has obviously failed the people of Benue state.”

Middle Belt Group Warns FG over Ortom, Plateau , SK. Says It will approach ICC

The Core Middle Belt Value, an umbrella for all the ethnic nationalities in the Middle Belt has reacted to the statement credited to Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, that Governor Ortom is fuelling genocide against the Fulanis in Benue, while saying that the Governor has denied Fulanis their rights in Benue State.

In a statement released to the press on Monday, 6 September 2021, after carefully going through the contents of the statement issued by the Presidency, the Core Middle Belt Values as the representatives of over 40 million Nigerians spread allover the 19 states across the Lugardian North has come to the conclusion that there is a threat contained in that statement .
It is obvious that the Presidency is bent on formenting a crisis in Benue State and using it as a pretext to remove Governor Ortom in order to pave way for implementation of the grazing reserves and routes in Benue .

"It is with this belief that we are telling  the Presidency that nothing must happen to Governor Ortom.

"As far as the constitution is concerned, the land use Act has bestowed on the Governor the right to appropriately keep lands on behalf of the people of Benue state. So far Ortom is doing that .

"The Core Middle Values hereby warns that , it is ready to mobilize its members at anytime in support of Governor Samuel Ortom and it is warning that nothing unconstitutional should happen to Governor Ortom.

The Statement which was jointly  signed by Christiana Oyine  Omar the National Chairman and Okpani Odeh Akatu Odeh, National  Publicity Secretary, urged the Federal Government to co-operate with Ortom and other governors in the Federation in order to have a seamless transfer from nomadic herding to modern system of ranching .

The Statement further lampooned the Federal Government for the volatile situation in the Plateau and wondered why President Muhammadu  Buhari did not take action on time till  23 travelers were brutally murdered .

"It is saddening to note that people on the Plateau have been complaining about the dastards killings by the  so-called bandits without any action taken to arrest the bandits or stop the killings . However, when some irresponsible hoodlums wrongly murdered some Fulani Muslim traveling through the area where people were massacred on the day they the people were burying their dead, Irigwe youths and elders became the target of arrests by Government agencies .We are asking why did they not arrest the bandits to stop or forestall the killings ?

The group further charged the Federal Government to move in and save Southern Kaduna Indigenes from herdsmen attacks .

"Similarly, the Core Middle Value is reminding the Federal Government that there is an ongoing situation in Southern Kaduna where the natives are routinely murdered by bandits whose ethnicity is known.
Yet, the killers are not apprehended for reasons we don't know.
"If the situation continues we shall seek justice from the International Criminal Court at the Hague, it added

Northern Groups Optimistic New Measures Will End Insecurity

The Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG has noted with sincere optimism the new measures taken by the federal and northern state governments to curve the lingering insecurity that pervades most of the northern region.

This was contained in a statement signed by CNG Spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, dated Tuesday September 7, 2021.

CNG also noted the renewed fighting spirit by the federal troops and improved cooperation from other security services and the awakened sense of responsibility in the hitherto afrighted northern communities.

"We particularly note that the combined effects of the initiatives for the blockade of internet access, closure of weekly community markets, ban on movement of cattle and restriction of access to fuel in some frontline states are already yielding results.

"These measures however, expectedly comes with a cost which we urge affected communities to bear with patience and fortitude hoping they will be temporary hardships necessary for the final restoration of security, and return of peace and enduring public safety.

"We call on the state governments involved to design emergency measures for easing the pains that would naturally result from the new security steps on communities and call for more cooperation and prayer from the public.

"In this regard, we call for dedicated prayer sessions across all northern communities on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th to beseach God's intervention for a definite end to the banditry and kidnappings that have ravaged the region and for all captives to regain freedom," it said.

CNG tasked state governments and the wealthy in all northern states to as well work together to ease the temporary hardships on the affected populations resulting from the new measures taken by authorities.

While commending the efforts of  gallant troops on the frontline, they particularly called on all Northern governors especially those of states immediately neighbouring the current operational areas to take immediate steps to check the movement of people across their boarders.

APC humiliates PDP in Makarfi Again

By BASHIR BELLO, Kaduna.
There is no ending to the political woes of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Makarfi Local Government Area as the result of the Local Government elections that has just been concluded shows.

The results showed that candidates from the All Progressives Congress, APC defeated candidates of PDP at both the chairman and  councilorship levels

Results of Makarfi Chairmanship & Council Polls

Chairmanship Result

Engr. Kabiru Mu’azu Mayere
APC-  16, 328 Winner

Abubakar Umar
PDP - 14, 739

Makarfi Ward Councilorship Result

Hon. Suleiman Adamu
APC-  1, 825  Winner

Aliyu Lawal
PDP - 1, 525

What is more noticeable Is the fact the PDP candidates  and their supporters could not raise any false flag nor  complain that the election was rigged or that underhand tactics were deployed to ensue their defeat.

GIANT CUT TO SIZE

The result of the poll indicated the era of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi who was the National  Caretaker Chairman of PDP at one time  is over. The PDP chieftain not only lost his ward but as well lost the whole local government area.

When contacted by our correspondent on how APC managed to bamboozled Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi grip and the PDP into submission in Makarfi, Hon.Isma'ila Aliyu Makarfi, former Commissioner of Finance, Kaduna State said.

"The result of the election you see today is as the result of good works done by Governor Nasir El Rufai. If you take a good look around Makarfi Local Government Area, you will discover access roads, feeder roads, primary healthcare centres have spring up in during the tenure of El Rufai.

"In addition, the state governor has created employment opportunities and provided social welfare programs that had empowered thousands of Makarfi citizens”

Hon Aliyu Makarfi who doubles as the Director General of the APC Campaign Council  for the LG  Elections and hails from the same ward as Senator Ahmed Makarfi explained that

"APC curated it's victory at the poll long before now. In Makarfi, we built our support base from the locals and by our good works, even the PDP membership collapsed into the APC. Aside my humble self, Makarfi ward today prides herself as the primary constituency of prominent APC stakeholders who include Dr Shehu Muhammad Makarfi, Prof Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango, Ambassador Ahmad Muhammad, Prof Yahaya Ibrahim Makarfi and many others”

Hon Aliyu  Makarfi went further to state that
" Today, as we speak, there is nothing like PDP in Makarfi Local Government talkless of Kaduna state”

Earlier on, the Chairman reflected on the Operating Environment, saying that the Q4 2020 result is a reflection of economic realities (though recovering but still weak) which is largely attributed to the reopening of economic activities in almost all sectors of the economy. grew by 0.11% in real terms from a negative of -3.2% in Q3 2020. This represents the first positive quarterly growth since the 1st Quarter of 2020. For the full year 2020, the annual growth of real GDP was estimated at -1.92%.

Finally he added that, the full year 2020 GDP of -1.92 percent was largely attributed to the global COVID-19 pandemic, but we must know the Nigerian economy was already undergoing issues such as rising inflation, increasing unemployment, escalating debt service cost, among other macroeconomic issues before the pandemic.
