States Should Coordinator Attacks On Bandits,Hon Muntari

The Chairman House Commitee on FCT Judiciary at the House of Representatives, Hon Dandutse Muntari Mohammed has advocated for death penalty for capital crimes such as murder and Banditry as one of the means solving the current menace of violence threatening the nation.
Hon.Muntari was speaking to journalists about the reports that there over 6000 hardened criminals who are languishing at the Awaiting Trial Section of Nigeria Correctional Facilities.

The lawmaker called on the judiciary and judges to quickly deliver judgements in order to decongest the correctional facilities holding hardened criminals such those who have committed murdered.

The law maker said,

" Even in Islam and Christianity, if you kill someone, you should be killed. That is what our laws should be.
It is happening today in China, in Russia, in Saudi Arabia and in Turkey.if you kill, you shall be killed.
He further added,
"If you continue keeping hardened criminals at prisons, they would in turn corrupt those that are just there for minor offences.
In my view, there should be death penalty for capital offendes.

The law maker who also commended the security agencies for the onslaught against kidnappers and bandits in the North- West, called for collective approach by the states in the North West in tackling the menace of the bandits.

"I wish to commend the security agencies for taking the bull by the horn and taking the fight to the bandits.
"We are the House of Representatives would be willing to assist them with anything they need to sustain this fight.

"Furthermore, I would advise that the state governors of the North-West and the security agencies should act collectively in fighting the bandits. If not, if they are attacked in Zamfara, they would move to Katsina and continue.However, if you block all the routes in Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto, then launch attacks on them, they would have no where to hide or go, he said.

The lawmaker who frowned at the activities of the bandits then urged all member of the society to join hands in fighting the criminality as represented by the bandits.
