Yoruba Youths Says President Tinubu to put Zamfara state Governor on the watch

.... Jamie Job

The Yoruba Youth Council has deplored what it described as worrisome underdevelopment of Zamfara State couples with hightened insecurity since the exit of the former Governor Bello Matawalle.

"We observed that since the nullification by appeal court of results from the three local governments that produced Governor of Zamfara State, the state have been going through challenges".

In a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Eric Oluwole, the Council, which is an umbrella body of the Yoruba youths noted particularly that the state has been going through challenges since the Court of Appeal on November 27 ordered a rerun by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  of the March 18 election which produced the incumbent Governor Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner.

The statement said that based on its overview, "the Council observed that the current state of underdevelopment in the state is due to alleged fear and uncertainty being entertained by the governor on whether he would win or lose the three Local Government Areas in the incoming rerun."

Oluwole said: "We called on the Mr President to put Governor Dauda Lawal under watch and checking, there is need for the Governor to concentrate his full energy on delivering meaningful governance to the good people of Zamfara State who are looking up to their leaders full hope, while patiently awaiting the final decision of the Supreme Court on his pending appeal against the nullification of his election by the lower Court and the Appeal Court.

We also observe then that his part of the people that showed much interest in Mr President on Toronto certificate issue.

Yoruba youths also said they learnt that Mr Governor has been financing some groups in other to carry out protest and therefore called on security agencies to be on alert to arrest any person that want to cause problem in the state.

"Already, the current state of underdevelopment in Zamfara State is disturbing enough, Mr Governor should not do anything to further jeopardize the interest and especially the much-needed overall socioeconomic development of the state."

The youth leader then urged Governor Lawal to, pending the verdict of the Supreme Court on his appeal,  he should vigorously follow the footsteps of his predecessor and now Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle "with his brilliant record of achievements as the immediate former Governor of Zamfara State."

It would be recalled that in a unanimous decision by its three-member panel led by Justice Oyebisi Folayemi, including Justice Cordelia Ifeoma Jombo-Ofo, and Justice Sybil Nwaka Gbagi, the appellate court had declared the March 18 Zamfara State Governorship Election as inconclusive and nullified Lawal's return.

It further ordered INEC to conduct a fresh election in three Local Government Areas of the state including Maradun, Birnin-Magaji and Bukkuyum, where elections had not been held previously or where results from various polling units were not counted.

Also, the court held that it was wrong for INEC to rely on information it obtained from its INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal to collate the final result of the governorship election.

The judgment was on an appeal brought before the court by the immediate former governor of the state, Bello Matawalle, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 election

Oluwole noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not include about 98,000 votes meant for Bello Matawalle in its tally, called on the Supreme Court to simply add it up and decide in Matawalle’s favor without the need for a rerun and declare him winner.

"We advise Mr Governor to wait for the Supreme Court ruling, the state should not geopardize it's efforts, so far, Nigeria belong to all of us, there is need for everyone to obey the Court ruling. The state needs to be stable for development and security.

Supreme Court Ruling: Deal With Trouble Makers, NEN URGES Federal Government.

The Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) has issued a fervent call to the federal government to take proactive measures in dealing with any form of dissent or incitement to misconduct that may arise from the outcome of the expected Supreme Court ruling on the Zamfara Governorship appeal.

NEN emphasized the importance of ensuring the stability of the country, urging the government to be prepared and steadfast in the face of any desperate attempts to subvert it.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of NEN, Suleiman Abbah, the group appealed to the Supreme Court justices to meticulously consider the facts before them when delivering their verdict.

Notably, the NEN highlighted the fact that the use of Biomodal Voters' Accreditation System (BVAS) in elections is not a mandatory provision of the law. Consequently, the group called on the court to resolve the dispute in favor of Matawalle Bello, recognizing him as the bonafide winner of the election.

The NEN firmly believes that a fair and just ruling in favor of Matawalle Bello will not only promote peace and stability in Zamfara State but will also serve as a remarkable affirmation of the rule of law in Nigeria as a whole.

The group urges the Supreme Court to prioritize the collective interest of the Nigerian people above any other considerations in its decision-making process.Chairman Suleiman Abbah expressed the importance of upholding the values of democracy, transparency, and justice throughout this legal process.

He affirmed NEN's commitment to supporting and advocating for the preservation of democracy and the well-being of the Nigerian society.

"As the Supreme Court prepares to deliver its verdict on the Zamfara Governorship appeal, the nation looks to the federal government to ensure the enforcement of law and order while dealing strictly with any attempts to disrupt peace or incite misconduct.

The NEN urges the government to stand firm against troublemakers and protect the stability of the country during this crucial period," he said

NNPP Causes Stir, Says Gov. Abba Yusuf Not Registered NNPP Member

Hafsat Fari : Kano

... Accuse  Kwankwaso, others of  Ochestrating Riots

The New Nigeria Peoples Party General Assembly has finally dumped the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf saying he is not a registered member of the party as the Election Tribunal and Appeal Court ruled.

 Referring to letters addressed to the Inspector General of Police and Director General of the Directorate of the State Security Services, the NNPP at a press conference addressed by its National Chairman, Dr Agbo Major expressed concern over the escalating issues in Kano State.

They lamented that the unrest, characterized by press interviews, protests, incitements, attacks on the judiciary, malicious remarks, institutional disruptions, visits to embassies, and road blockades, have reached an alarming level. "Red-capped individuals, both young and vibrant, wielding various weapons, have taken to the streets, disturbing the peace," the Publicity Secretary said.

 He said that upon thorough investigation, the party discovered that the riots were coordinated by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and led by non-Kano indigenes, namely Dipo Johnson, Kawu Alli, and Onu, all of whom are expelled members of our party.

The Chairman said following a three-day retreat after submitting letters to relevant security agencies and embassies, they have reached the following resolutions:"Our party upholds the sanctity of Nigeria and is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution.

"Our Great Party, founded by Boniface Anebolum, categorically asserts that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is not its founder."We advocate for legal redress options and reject the notion of self-help in addressing matters.

"Our party denounces the deliberate mischief of expelled members presenting themselves as the leaders of the protests, specifically Dipo Johnson, Kawu Ali, and Onu. These individuals are not representatives of our party," Major said.

He said NNPP strongly supports the rule of law and the judiciary, disapproving of any attacks against the judicial system."Our party has won cases at the National Assembly and House of Assembly tribunals and appeals without inciting violence or making disparaging remarks against the judiciary.

"We condemn the threats made by expelled members that forced Election Tribunal judges to leave Kano," he said. He pointed out that the tribunal and appeal court rulings that Governor Abba Yusuf is not a registered member of the NNPP arose from non-compliance with our party's constitution.

"The misfortune of the NNPP is attributed to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s high-handedness, preventing party members from registering according to the law."The party has been taken over by the red-cap Kwankwasiya faction with no regard for party principles.

"Violence and killing are not part of the NNPP manifesto, and we urge the people of Kano to pursue peace and order," he said. He further explained that Dipo Johnson, the spokesperson of Kwankwaso, and presidential candidate, is not a registered member of NNPP and has been hired for his role in inciting protests.

"We invite security agencies to investigate the activities of Dipo Johnson and his cohorts, clarifying that they do not represent NNPP."NNPP disassociates itself from the incitement of the masses and attacks on the judiciary, calling for a thorough investigation," he said.

He concluded by saying the party attributes the misfortunes of NNPP to Kwankwaso's high-handed approach, leading to non-compliance with the party's constitution and electoral laws, prompting the withdrawal from the MOU and the resultant legal action.

AYCF Gives Reasons Why Supreme Court Should Rule In Favour Of Mutawalle

Moses Oshoke

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has waded into  controversy surrounding the governorship election in Zamfara State over the non-counting of about 90,000 ballots by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

 Reacting to the development, AYCF President General Yerima Shettima called on the Supreme Court of Nigeria to resolve this issue in favor of former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle in deciding the appeal before it.

The AYCF insists that the use of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) introduced by INEC does not carry the same weight as the Electoral Act, and its mandatory use is questionable.

According to Shettima, Section 60 of the Electoral Act clearly states that the presiding officer must record each candidate's votes in a form prescribed by INEC. Additionally, section 60(5) mandates the presiding officer to transfer results, including total accredited voters and ballot results in a manner prescribed by INEC.

However, AYCF argues that BVAS does not hold the same legal weight as the Electoral Act itself.Shettima further explained that while BVAS was introduced by INEC to enhance electoral credibility, it is not explicitly mandated by the Electoral Act.

Therefore, its use cannot be made mandatory without proper legal backing. The appeal to Nigeria's Supreme Court is based on this argument that BVAS should not supersede provisions of the Electoral Act - which governs elections in Nigeria.

AYCF believes that it is crucial for Nigeria's highest judicial authority to address this appeal and provide a resolution that upholds democratic principles such as fairness, justice, and rule of law.

Not counting 90,000 ballots raises concerns about electoral integrity and disenfranchisement of many voters. By resolving this appeal, Nigeria's Supreme Court can send a strong message that it is committed to ensuring free and fair elections while restoring public confidence in the electoral process.

Finally, AYCF urges Nigeria's Supreme Court to intervene and resolve Zamfara State's election controversy following INEC's non-counting of approximately 90,000 ballots in favor of former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

 They argue that BVAS does not carry equal weight with provisions stipulated by Nigeria's Electoral Act governing elections in Nigeria. Resolving this matter will uphold democratic principles such as fairness, justice and rule of law while restoring public confidence in Nigeria's electoral process.

Forum Lauds President Tinubu Over Kyari's Retention As GCEO NNPC

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has enthusiastically welcomed the reappointment of Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) by President Bola Tinubu. This decision, AYCF said, is a landmark move that signals continuity and stability in the nation's oil sector.

The AYCF in a statement by its President General Yerima Shettima noted that as part of a larger reshuffle, President Tinubu has unveiled a new board and management team for the NNPCL, effective December 1, 2023.

"The retention of Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari has defied expectations and put to shame detractors who had been anticipating his replacement after serving for approximately four years under the Buhari Administration," Yerima Shettima said.

He expressed satisfaction with President Tinubu's decision and highlighted the confidence that the current administration has in Mele Kyari. Shettima emphasized that Kyari's reappointment demonstrates the administration's belief in his ability to navigate the challenges of the global oil economy and lead the NNPCL to even greater heights.

He said the AYCF, a prominent youth organization that represents the interests of the Arewa region, recognizes the valuable contributions made by Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari during his previous term as the CEO of NNPCL.

"His leadership, vision, and commitment have significantly enhanced the operations and performance of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, making it an integral player in the global oil and gas sector," Shettima said.

The AYCF applauds President Tinubu for making a decision that prioritizes continuity and stability in the nation's oil sector which is crucial for maintaining investor confidence, attracting foreign investments, and ensuring sustainable economic growth for Nigeria.Shettima then urged Kyari to continue his exemplary leadership and work collaboratively with the newly appointed board and management team to steer the NNPCL towards even greater achievements and pledged AYCF's support to the administration's efforts to transform Nigeria's oil sector and create opportunities for the Arewa region's youth.

AYCF is a leading youth organization in Nigeria, representing the interests of the Arewa region and committed to promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic development in the region through advocacy, capacity-building programs, and constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders.

Northern Group Begs Apex Court to Resolve Zamfara Appeal in Matawalle's Favor

Danmani Shamsudeen

The recent governorship election in Zamfara State has been marred by controversy surrounding the non-counting of approximately 90,000 ballots by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) has called upon Nigeria's Supreme Court to intervene and resolve this issue in favor of former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle,  arguing that the use of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) introduced by INEC does not carry the same weight as the Electoral Act, and its mandatory use is questionable.

A statement by the NEN's Chairman,  Suleiman Abbah pointed out that Section 60 of the Electoral Act clearly states that the presiding officer must record the votes scored by each candidate in a form prescribed by the commission. Additionally, section 60 (5) of the Act mandates the presiding officer to transfer the results, including the total number of accredited voters and the ballot results, in a manner prescribed by the commission.

 The NEN argues that the prescribed manner, which is the BVAS, does not hold the same legal weight as the Electoral Act itself."The BVAS was introduced by INEC to enhance the credibility of the electoral process. However, it is important to note that the BVAS is not explicitly mandated by the Electoral Act.

Therefore, its use cannot be made mandatory without proper legal backing," Abbah said. The NEN's appeal to the Supreme Court is based on the argument that the BVAS should not supersede the provisions of the Electoral Act, which is the primary legal framework governing elections in Nigeria.

"The Supreme Court's intervention is crucial in this matter to ensure that the principles of fairness, justice, and the rule of law are upheld. The non-counting of 90,000 ballots raises concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and the disenfranchisement of a significant number of voters.

 "The Supreme Court, as the highest judicial authority in Nigeria, has the responsibility to address this appeal and provide a resolution that upholds the democratic principles upon which the nation is built," he said. Furthermore, NEN said, the Supreme Court's intervention will help to restore public confidence in the electoral process.

"The credibility of elections is essential for the stability and progress of any democratic society. By resolving this appeal, the Supreme Court can send a strong message that it is committed to ensuring free and fair elections, and that any violations or irregularities will not be tolerated," Abbah said.

Nigerian Youth Network Wants Tinubu To Relief NNPC GCEO Of His Position

BY, Adamson Maiha

Amidst mounting concerns and widespread allegations of corruption, Incompetence, use of government agency to advance political interest, the Nigerian Youth Network for Development (NYND) has again demanded for  the immediate termination of the appointment of  Mr. Mele Kolo Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited(NNPCL).

These calls for action find resonance in the deeply troubling allegations that have surfaced against Mr. Kyari and the growing belief that his continued tenure poses a significant threat to the nation's interests.

A statement jointly signed by Alh. Musa Abdullahi Daura national Chairman and
Chidiebere Ebuka national Secretary averred that the barrage of negative allegations against Mr. Kyari ranges from claims of gross misconduct to allegations of abuse of power, financial impropriety wherein he paid himself gratuity and some of his colleagues running into billions of Naira, incompetence and creation of artificial fuel scarcity with corresponding increase in price despite the subsisting subsidy regime at play then, thereby constituting threat to the election bid of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group further said, these allegations have raised serious concerns about his ability to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and effective governance that are vital to the overall success of NNPC and Nigeria's economy.

"One of the primary concerns is the alleged involvement of Mr. Kyari in several shady deals within the petroleum sector, including illicit security contract to Ex Militant Tompolo, and the mismanagement of public funds. Such weighty allegations cannot be properly investigated with him on the saddle, if proven true, would undoubtedly undermine the trust of the Nigerian people and damage the reputation of the NNPC, hindering efforts towards economic growth, stability, and foreign investment.

"In addition to the financial impropriety allegations, there have been serious questions raised regarding Mr. Kyari's leadership capabilities. The NNPC, being one of the most significant economic entities in Nigeria, requires a leader who can navigate the challenges of the ever-evolving global energy landscape.

"The allegations of incompetence and questionable decision-making have jeopardized the corporation's ability to perform optimally and deliver on its mandate. Despite the opening the Russian-Ukraine provides for our economic boom, Nigeria has not been able to reach the OPEC production quota.

"Considering the gravity of the allegations against Mr. Kyari, we respectfully implore President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action and terminate his appointment as the GCEO of NNPCL. As a trusted leader with a commitment to good governance and transparency, we believe President Tinubu's intervention is crucial to restore public confidence in the NNPC and uphold the ethical standards that Nigerians expect from their public officials".

The group also called on President Tinubu to prioritize the national interest and ensure that the appointment of the new GCEO be made based on merit, integrity, and competency.

"We believe that the immediate termination of Mr. Kyari and the subsequent appointment of a capable and ethical leader will serve as a strong message that Nigeria will not tolerate corruption or compromise on accountability. This crucial step will pave the way for a rejuvenated NNPCL that operates with the utmost professionalism, transparency, and efficiency" they stressed.

While applauding the President for not being distracted by dissident voices to replicate the dogma of inept ideas orchestrated by  a few cabals to replace Mele Kyari with a stooge to serve their interests, the group appreciated the positive developments that are unfolding in the Oil and Gas sector, where synergy templates have made the difference and ensured for a significant paradigm shift for a generational sign post that have acquired the topmost in line with global energy practice.

The DG who acknowledged Mele Kyari’s records of achievements, said his contributions to the petroleum industry and the Oil and Gas in particular, have positively impacted the Nigeria’s economic strides for development.

Speaking further on his achievements, Kailani stated : "We are talking about the poor success rate by many international giant oil companies in the past, to conduct various seismic exploration activities in search for oil in the northern part of the country without tangible results, where his TAPE agenda changed the narratives .

"When Kyari came on board as the GMD of the NNPC, his efforts yielded positive achievements in the Upper Benue Trough and the Gongola Basin in North Eastern Nigeria, particularly the Kolmani River fields. Kolmani integrated oil field development project located in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi State, where about over four billion of crude oil deposit is located.

"For the first time in over four decades, Kyari broke a 43 year- old jinx in the NNPC by up -dating and publishing the 2018 Audited Financial Statement for the year ended December 31, 2018. To consolidate on the landmark achievement, he quickly followed up with the publication of the company’s 2019 AFS, which showed a remarkable loss reduction to just N2.3 billion, with a declaration of a N287 billion Profit After Tax (PAT).

"He was a major factor in the resolution of the issues that delayed the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), by the National Assembly for almost two decades.

"Since the unveiling of the Kolmani field development, Kyari has spearheaded more frontier exploration activities across Niger, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi and Gombe states in the northern part of the country.

"Through Kyari, the NNPCL has a proven gas reserve base of 208.62 trillion cubic feet (TCF). He also plans to increase gas reserves to 220 TCF in less than 10 years and 250 TCF thereafter. Although the operational environment has posed a huge challenge, Kyari is determined to ensure the country realises these targets.

"In this lap of the journey of Mele Kyari at NNPCL, we implore the media, the Nigerian  Public and stakeholders in the petroleum industry and especially, the Oil and Gas sector and the NNPCL management, to avail Mele Kyari, the requisite cooperation and commitment to his noble ideals.

"Kyari is also involved in the execution of the 474 million standard cubic feet of gas per day trans-regional pipeline system, to deliver Nigeria’s natural gas resources to 15 countries in the West and North Africa.

"Construction of the 5,660 kilometres long NMGP, which commenced from Nigeria, that would traverse Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, and Mauritania, to end at Tangiers, a Moroccan port on the Strait of Gibraltar, with a spur connecting the existing Europe gas pipeline through Spain.

"Kyari initiated the construction of the 4,128 kilometres long Trans-Saharan gas pipeline championed by the NNPCL, with its Algerian and Nigerien counterparts as a strategic investment to transport about 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year to the European market. Rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries to start production by December, 2023.

We Will Not Recognize Tinubu As President - Arewa Youth

Comrade Elliot Afiyo is the National President of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF), the umbrella Organisation of 42 Northern youth groups founded in 1994 by the Northern Traditional, Military, Political and Religious leaders to propagate and protect the northern political and economic interest within the national interest.

Comrade (Dr) Elliot Afiyo is also the Secretary - General of the Association of West African Monarchs (AWAM), the umbrella body of Traditional Rulers in West Africa. In this interview with Journalists in Abeokuta, Comrade Afiyo bares his mind on the 2023 general elections.

Questions;

Comrade sir, since 1999, your Forum secured victories for Candidates you endorsed and supported at all levels since 1999. But in the last presidential elections, former vice president Atiku lost in spite of all your support and endorsement. What went wrong Sir?

Comrade Afiyo;

 Thank you very much. I want to tell you categorically that Atiku did not lose the 2023 presidential election because there wasn’t any candidate that meets up with the constitutional requirements to be declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election. It was a conspiracy in dietriabe to declaring Tinubu as the winner of that election for fear of a rerun. 2023 presidential election was full of betrayals, conspiracies and deceptions

Questions;

But your Forum couldn’t make the difference like the previous elections since 1999.

Comrade Afiyo;

Our Forum performed the best ever since 1999. For the first time, our Forum faced the toughest and most challenging election and came out with good results especially in the North- East and North- West geopolitical zones.

Questions;

How tough was the election sir?

Comrade Afiyo;

You see, I held a press conference in Kano two weeks to the elections and drew the attention of our presidential candidate of an organised deception and betrayals. All the APC governors that promised to work for Atiku changed their minds t
hree days to the elections because of the senseless and leucitic statement made by one of the Atiku’s campaign spokesmen that Atiku will investigate and jail them.

Secondly, the statement made by Atiku that he was going to restructure the country even at the detriment of his life, made the Fulani elites to work against him.

Thirdly, 85% of the people Atiku made as PCC members also betrayed him because the dollars given to them for logistics and mobilization, was only shared amongst and between them. They had erroneous and lithifying confidence that with or without mobilization, Atiku will win.

Fourthly, the people that were sincerely and honestly working for Atiku were side lined, barricaded, excluded and isolated. Thanks to some our patrons who saw all these things and decided to mobilise us and also gotten some assistance from international Organisations. These mobilisations coupled with our determination and commitments made the difference in the voting outcome.

 We saw ourselves fighting against the collective decision of the Northern Governors, Fulani Elites and the Religious leaders from both the Islamic and Christian religions.

The Imams were heavily mobilised with millions of dollars while the statement made by Governor El-Rufai about the northern Christians population also encouraged and gingered the Christian clerics to mobilise Christians to waste their votes for Obi so as to prove El-Rufai wrong and teaches him and his cohorts a protogenetic and dangerous lesson. The ethnic angle was also given priority in some States like Kogi, Kwara and Niger. You can now see the forces NYLF faced and still ensured that Atiku won in the North.

Question;

Why Niger State?

Comrade Afiyo:

Whether you believe IT or not, Asiwaju has a link with the Nupes.

Question

Are you saying Tinubu did not win the 2023 Presidential election?

Comrade Afiyo;

I am telling you without fear of contradiction that Tinubu did not win the election that meets up with the constitutional requirements even after results were doctored. Prof Yakubu knew it and he made up his mind to announce a rerun. Thirty minutes to the announcement, he was summoned and the decision was changed. Alterations and doctoring of results were made, that is why he reluctantly staged a podiatric coup against democracy and Nigerians, by going ahead and announced Tinubu as the winner at about 4:am

Questions;

Sir, are you saying that Prof Yakubu staged a coup?

Comrade Afiyo;

Prof. Yakubu is a learn tic Coupist by every reasoning. Coups are normally announced at early hours of the day and that what was he did. I will not be surprised if Prof Yakubu is arrested and tried for treasonable felony in the nearest future.

Question;

But the Northern Elders Forum and the Arewa Consultative Forum supported Atiku?

Comrade Afiyo;

All these pressure groups are constituted for political relevance and financial patronage. They are far from translating to political victories. Unfortunately, the Aspirants and the Candidates patronize them at the detriment of the Youth groups. Some of these Individuals are not known in their localities. And if they are known, they cannot command political fellowship and followership which will translate to political voting and by extension, political victories.

Questions;

Sir, so you agree with Governor El-Rufai that they don’t control votes?

Comrade Afiyo;

I totally agree with him because he said nothing but the truth. How many of these Elders will secure a political victory for their Councillors not to talk of President? The Governors and the Youth Leaders control and determine the direction of voting in the North. The clerics are far politically better than these Elders.

The only aspect that I disagree with EL-Rufai is denigration and localisation of the elders by calling them ‘so called elders’ and his statement on the Northern Christians which has caused major division among the Northerners. If care is not taken or more awareness created, it will be very difficult for a Northerner to win presidential election in the nearest future in a free and fair elections unless that Northerner is a Muslim and must come from one of the minority tribes.

Question;

President Buhari said that Atiku lost the election because of over confidence and complacency

Comrade Afiyo;

That’s very true, over confidence in the sense that PCC members were doing what they feel like. Even the presidential Candidate and his running Mate were deliberately ignoring some stakeholders.  The support groups were ignored and downgraded. The G5 Governors were termed and considered inconsequential. The Governor of Bauchi who is very popular and influential in the country especially the Northern Youth, was isolated not until I decided to take an action that maybe so devastating, before he was visited and invited for negotiation.

Let me tell you the truth, most of the key members of PCC of the PDP worked against Atiku because they have interest in 2027 and Atiku winning this election will block them. This is more reason why they pocketed the dollars, thereby frustrating the genuine efforts of Atiku’s supporters.

 Another factor that causes complacency was the appointment of his spokesmen who were caucus members of the APC. These were people verily known with Tinubu, whatever they said were not given any serious consideration.

You can see Senator Dino saying ALLAH YA ISA to PDP in 2015. The same Dino saying ALLAH YA ISA to APC in 2019 and 2023. Spiritually, any Candidate that Dino becomes his or her Spokesman under PDP or APC, will never wins the election because he has used the same tongue to curse the Parties.

Question;

Sir, we read in some National Dailies prior to the elections that some Emirs threatened to assassinate you if Atiku wins the election in their States. How true is this statement?

 Comrade Afiyo;

Absolutely true, two of them told our Co-ordinators that they will assassinate me if Atiku wins in their States. I personally called them to confirm the story and they affirmed it. These threats made me to relocate to one of the States and informed the Emir that I was in the State to ensure that Atiku wins in all the States. I called some of our Patrons who mobilised funds for us. When Atiku won in the State, I placed a call to the Emir who later invited me for a dinner in his palace. After the Dinner, he looked at me said “shege Batta jo”, and I smiled and said mi yeti barkama walla aibe”. And that was all.

Question;

Sir, we were also told that Tinubu’s camp is making overtures for you to join the team.

Comrade Afiyo;

For now, I will not join them until the final pronouncement by the Supreme court. In fact, the Northern Youth will never recognize Tinubu as President of Nigeria even after the swearing - in until the final pronouncement by the Supreme Court.

Question;

Are you saying that the inauguration ceremony should be stopped?

Comrade Afiyo:

Under common sense or literal reasoning, the inauguration should have been done after final pronouncement by the Court. But in a situation like this, one should not expect that to happened. Seriously, it is a major set- back to our Country. But I am quite sure that God’s will would prevail very soon.

Question

There was a story in one of the daily newspapers that you led a Team of investigation from UN and EU to visit the six geo- political zones and the Team was sponsored by one of your patrons.

Comrade Afiyo;

The Team was a fact-finding Team. I was just privileged to guide them.

Question;

What do we expect from you and your Forum from now?

 Comrade Afiyo;

For now, let us allow the will of God to prevail. This is our only country that we can call our home. Enough of crisis and shedding of innocent blood. Let us all be law abiding and give maximum support to the security agencies. Sooner or later, Nigerians will definitely rejoice.

Ogbe's Suit Withdrawal Speaks Volume Of Unity In Benue South - David Mark's Daughter

*Says its time to focus proactive legislative duties

Honourable Blessing Onuh, has enjoined politicians to resist the culture of filing frivolous petitions that could distract public office holders from delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

The Lawmaker representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), gave the charge at a world press conference in Abuja yesterday,   pointing out that elections are over and is time for political stakeholders to begin to work together irrespective of political leanings.

Onuh, while acknowledging that elections petitions was an essential part of our democratic process, however warned that culture of filing frivolous petitions against political opponents was a distraction.

The Federal Lawmaker was reacting to the recent withdrawal of the suit instituted by Hon Alex Enokela Ogbe, against her victory in the February 25th National Assembly election.

Recall that Hon. Ogbe had on Friday, May 19th 2023, announced his decision to withdraw the case instituted against Hon. Lady Blessing Onuh, the APC and INEC in the 2023 election petition tribunal.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement personally signed himself, stated that the difficult decision was for the general interest of Otukpo Ohimini people.

Ogbe, while congratulating Lady Blessing Onuh, vow to offer his support and assistance to her where needed for the betterment of the people.

"We are using this medium to make known our intention to withdraw the case instituted against Hon. Lady Blessing Onuh of the APC, the APC and INEC in the 2023 election petition tribunal.

"We have taken this difficult decision for the general interest of Otukpo Ohimini people who we seek to serve.

"We will offer support and assistance to the house of representatives member elect Otukpo Ohimini where needed for the betterment of the people of Otukpo Ohimini.

"We pray God gives her the strength to meet the desires of the people of Otukpo Ohimini for which she represent," he stated.

Onuh while applauding Mr. Ogbe's decision to withdraw his petition, described his action as political maturity which speaks volume about the unity in Benue South.

The lawmaker who however, maintained that she won the February 2023 election conducted in a free and fair contest, enjoined him to work together with her and all Idoma progressives in the progress, unity and development of Otukpo/Ohimini Federal constituency.

In her words, "I acknowledge the withdrawal of the suit instituted against my victory by Mr Ogbe. However, I must state categorically that I won the February 2023 election conducted in a free and fair contest.

"I view the decision of Mr Ogbe as an act of political maturity which speaks volume about the unity in Benue South. I urge politicians to avoid frivolous petitions which is a distraction.

"I feel honoured by the humble demonstration of his sportsmanship and enjoin him to work together with me and all Idoma progressives in the progress, unity and development of Otukpo/Ohimini Federal constituency.

"Elections have come and gone, I want to emphasize that I represent the entire constituency irrespective of political leanings," she stated.

NASS LEADERSHIP SELECTION: Do Not Marginalise Any Geopolitical Zone, Group Cautions Tinubu

Jamiu Labbo

....

South East Unity Movement has implored the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to be neutral in the selection process of the principal officers of the National Assembly.

The group also cautioned politicians against uttering insidious remarks capable of causing ethic division and violence.Its Chairman, Godwish Kuruma Obi, in a statement, yesterday, noted that the South East would not fold its arms and watch, those he called ‘greedy politicians’ stock unnecessary regional tensions that would potentially affect our investments all across the country.

“The South-East Unity Movement is deeply worried by the direction the country is being pushed by power hungry regionalist politicians over the issue of selection of leaders and officers of the 10th National Assembly.

“We find it unfortunate that people who are supposed to be distinguished gentlemen and women trusted with mandates by their constituencies would find it difficult to form leadership for themselves and by themselves without unnecessary interference by vested interests.

“The South-East, in spite of the strident cries of marginalisation in the way the nation is structured and operated is however more committed to sustainable peace than all the other sections of the country.

“This implies that the South-East would not fold its arms and watch greedy politicians stock unnecessary regional tensions that would potentially affect our investments all across the country.“We therefore urge politicians to tread with caution and play by the rules with fairness to all sections of the country devoid of dangerous preconditions and sinister motives.

"We call on political party structures particularly the party in power to allow the three organs of government to exercise their constitutionally demarcated roles unhindered.“The National Working Committee of the APC is therefore cautioned against continuous meddling with the leadership affairs with the constitutionally and democratically independent and autonomous legislative arm of government.

“We also caution the President-elect not to be dragged into counterproductive, self-serving conflicts over the NASS leadership. He should take the path of honour by maintaining neutrality and insisting on democratic processes,” he said.

Niger Delta Youths Rejects Regional Zoning of National Assembly Principal Offices

By Kabir Yusuf

The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has said that the principal offices of the National Assembly should not be subjected to regional zoning.
Comrade Israel Uwejeyan,the National Coordinator NDYC, in a statement, explained that “we advocate that the members of the National Assembly are mature and not children, hence they should be left to exercise their autonomy in selecting their own leaders.”

“We contend that the esteemed members of the National Assembly possess the necessary wisdom and maturity to make informed choices regarding leadership. They are well-equipped to identify capable leaders who can effectively address the challenges facing our nation. By granting them the independence to choose their leaders, we foster an environment that encourages independent thinking and political growth.”

“The practice of regional zoning imposes unnecessary limitations and perpetuates division within the National Assembly. It stifles the diversity of thought and restricts the assembly’s ability to elect leaders based on merit, competence, and vision. Removing regional barriers allows for a broader pool of qualified candidates and harnesses the wealth of talent that exists nationwide.”

“Our objective is to cultivate a merit-based leadership selection process that promotes national unity and fosters inclusivity. Leadership positions should be earned based on qualifications, experience, and proven track records, rather than being predetermined by regional considerations. Such a meritocratic approach strengthens our democratic institutions and nurtures a sense of unity.”

“In fact, the zoning of the Senate presidency may end up creating more problems than it solves. For one, it can result in a situation where the most qualified candidate is excluded simply because they do not come from the region or ethnic group that the position has been zoned to. This could lead to a leadership vacuum and contribute to the underdevelopment of the Senate and the country at large.”

“Moreover, zoning is a divisive concept that has the potential to stoke ethnic and regional tensions. It creates a sense of entitlement among certain groups who feel that they are entitled to certain positions, regardless of their qualifications or suitability for the job. This could lead to resentment and friction among different groups, and ultimately undermine national unity and cohesion.”

“The NDYC calls for the National Assembly to transcend parochial interests by abandoning the practice of regional zoning. By doing so, members can prioritize the greater good and work collectively towards the advancement of our nation. This shift will foster an environment of cooperation, enabling robust debate and the emergence of consensus-driven, well-rounded leadership.”

“In conclusion, the NDYC strongly advocates for the elimination of regional zoning for the principal office within the National Assembly. We firmly believe that the mature members of the assembly are capable of selecting their leaders based on merit, competence, and a commitment to national unity. Embracing an autonomous leadership selection process will pave the way for a more inclusive, progressive, and prosperous future for our great nation,” the youth group said.

2023 Presidential Elections: New Political Coalition Mobilises Nigerians to Defend Democracy

*The Minimum Is For The Judges To Do Right - Labour And Civil Society Front LCSF*

The Labour and Civil Society Front is committed to ensuring that the electoral process is protected and that at all times the primacy of the Peoples choice is preserved.

We stated in our debut outing on the 30th of April, 2023 that the Nigerian People are committed to seeing that the Judiciary rises to the urgency of now by passing judgement in the Presidential Election Petition that will truly present the Judiciary in glowing light.

In our Solidarity outing with organized Labour on the 1st of May, 2023 we were unanimous in the call on the Parties to the Petitions before the Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal to effectively pursue their call for Justice without let or hindrance, and we believe that democracy is endangered where wrong persons hijack the mandate of the people through electoral malfeasance and larceny.

We have in many ways supported and endorsed the protests, street marches, sit-in and sit-tights that have attended the largely flawed February 25, 2023 General Elections. We are calling on all lovers of democracy, well meaning Nigerians, supporters of the Rule of law, and believers in the noble demands of due process to join forces with us as we urge and nudge the Judiciary to do right.

The Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal which began sitting on the 8th of May, 2023 must not see our protests as an attempt to overawe it. Indeed our protests show that we have great faith in the Judiciary and that we believe that they will do right by ensuring that the true winner of the Presidential Election and no other is sworn in on the 29th of May, 2023, this can be done by expeditiously determining the preliminary prayers of the Petitioners. We urge and nudge the Judiciary to do right.

We, as a major Citizens' Movement with nationwide Structures, are in alliance with the Free Nigeria Movement (that has been on the Streets for upward of 30days), the UpNorth Ambassadors, the Save Nigeria Group (that has been at the vanguard of protests around the Tribunal venue since Monday), The NCFront-3rd Force Movement of Nigeria, the Coalition of Obidient Movements Worldwide (with relentless channels of protest, calling for the validation of the Peoples Mandate), the League of Nigerian Progressives, the resurgent NADECO challenge, and several other groups committed to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

Our unalterable and unyielding resolve is to salvage our decomposing democracy and restore the fast fading faith in the electoral process.

Finally, we encourage Nigerians to continue, and sustain all ongoing peaceful protests and marches against the monumental electoral larceny of the 25th of February, 2023 until Justice is done. To the Esteemed Judges in whose hands our collective sanity, faith and fate as a nation lie, the minimum we crave is that you do right.

Group Reveals Reason Tinubu Visited Wike In Port Harcourt, Says 'It’s Beyond Commissioning'

A non-governmental organization, Center for Reform and Public Advocacy has revealed that the recent visit of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu on the invitation of the state governor, Nyesom Wike is beyond the commissioning as widely publicized.

The Public Relations Officer of the group Ifeanyi Okechukwu in a statement on Wednesday, stated that the decision to commission the Rivers State governor for undermining the PDP’s and Labour’s petitions is on account of the fact that Gov Wike is perceived as not minding to commit his last blood in ensuring that Atiku is not declared the real winner of the election for obvious reasons.

“Indeed, there is high expectation on Governor Wike to use the advantage of the fact that his wife and Rivers State First Lady, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Wike, in whose honour one of the buildings commissioned by Tinubu was named, to network the judiciary for the purpose of discounting the merit in the PDP’s and Labour’s petitions.

“The invitation of Tinubu by Governor Wike to come and commission judiciary building projects was to provide a ground for the Tinubu team to meet with Wike and seal the deal with him.

“In particular, they believe that Wike has what it takes to undermine the petition by the PDP and Atiku, which they’ve adjudged as the most potent.

“It is their considered position that for as long as Wike remains Atiku’s albatross, the Rivers State Governor is more fitted for the task of liquidating the petition by Atiku”. Okechukwu stated.

He added that there is palpable apprehension in the camp of the APC and Tinubu because of the potential merits in Atiku’s and Obi’s case.

Timi Frank To Tinubu: You Lack Capacity To Fight Corruption In Judiciary

*Says 80% of corrupt politicians will be beneficiaries of Asiwaju's presidency

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has faulted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's claim that he will make corruption unattractive, especially in the Judiciary.

Frank, who described such statement as a lie, noted that the former Lagos state governor do not possess the capacity and ability to fight corruption in the Judiciary.

Tinubu, while speaking in Port Harcourt, during the inauguration of a Magistrate Courts Complex built by the Governor Nyesom Wike administration, reportedly promised to make corruption unattractive.

Responding in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, Timi Frank said Tinubu's track record on corruption fights is abysmal.

According to Frank, It is an insult to the sensibility of majority of Nigerians, that Tinubu who has been linked to several corrupt practices, including the famous bullion van episode, will suddenly become the anti corruption czar.

He said: "A man who's unable to answer questions on the activities of the Alpha Beta company and several other properties linked to him, obviously do not posses the prerequisites to fight corruption.

"It is however ironic that Tinubu, whose political career is peppered with allegations of corruption, would try to position himself as a champion of anti-corruption, only aimed at fooling the gullible.

"Of utmost importance is the caliber of persons currently hobnobbing around the president elect for one favor or another. These individuals who are busy outwitting one another, all in a bid to grab juicy government portfolios with statutory immunity, may all have a case or more to answer with the anti graft agencies.  These characters who are currently vying for leadership positions in all arms of government, including the Executive, Legislature, and the Judiciary will most likely be cleared for public service, thereby joepadizing the fight against corruption ab initio.

The Bayelsa born political activist believed that the incoming administration, if confirmed by the judiciary, will habour many politicians of questionable characters giving them a safe haven to operate.

"A closer look at these individuals reveals that they are made of high net worth personalities who may have previously been convicted of crimes, or currently facing investigations or prosecution by the EFCC and other sister anti graft agencies.

"The jostle for the position of the Senate President by one of the leading contenders is a clear testimony to the fact. It is therefore pertinent to ascertain whether Tinubu's potential administration will be comprised by these glaring associations.

"Consequently, the statement credited to the former Lagos state governor in Port Harcourt is laughable, given that the facts prove otherwise as clearly evident by the current realities.

"It's worthy to note that Tinubu, whose ruling party campaigned on an anti-corruption mantra will suddenly drive an anti-corruption fight when even the incumbent President, who has no known history of corruption is unable to tackle the menace, rather the corruption index has risen exponentially under this administration."

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, furthermore added that it will be difficult to take Tinubu's words on fighting corruption seriously.

He said: "Evidence of corruption linked to his interests continues to surface, as even the recently concluded general elections were grossly compromised. Tinubu should note that he's yet to be sworn in and should focus his attention on the pending cases challenging the legitimacy of his victory at the polls rather than making any such promises on an illegality pending before the tribunal.

"Lastly as a nation seeking a change, we must demand accountability from our leaders, regardless of their party affiliation. We cannot afford to remain silent whilst corruption continues to plague our democracy. Those who seek to lead us, must henceforth  show by their actions that they are committed to a corrupt-free Nigeria."

S/Kaduna: Allegation against military over renewed criss false, malicious,baseless-SOKIPEP

 *Exonerates military commanders of any wrong doing

*Begs military high command to forgive Atyap Devt. Association over false accusations

*Appeals to FG to deploy more troops to trouble area

*Passes vote of confidence on OPSH, Commander

A peace building group in Southern Kaduna has described allegation of complicity of the military in the renewed crisis in the area as not only false but also malicious and baseless.

The indigenous peace advocacy organisation insisted that contrary to the accusation by the leadership of Atyap Development Association,that the military had aided and abetted the renewed attacks in Southern Kaduna,the military has rather done excellently well in enthroning peace and harmony in the area.

The Kaduna based peace advocacy group operating under the aegis of Southern Kaduna Peace Practitioners Network,SOKIPEP,in a statement on the security situation in Southern Kaduna,countered the claim of the president of Atyap Development Association,
Samuel Achi,that the military and in particular, the Commander of the military formation in charge of peace enforcement in Southern Kaduna,Brigadier General Timothy Opurum,were involved in the crisis.

SOKIPEP in the statement,signed by its National Coordinator, Rev. Dauda Fadia and the Director of Community Outreach, Dr Samuel Lekwot,absolved the military and the Commander of any wrong doing, insisting that they have carried out their assigned mandate professionally.

To this end,it passed a vote of confidence on Operation Safe Haven ,OPSH and the Commander, noting that contrary to the allegation,the renewed violence in the area was caused by cow poisoning and the killing of a herder by some criminal elements in some southern kaduna villages.

The group which said it has high regard for the Atyap Development Association and its leadership,however said it felt constrained to say the truth even as it may hurt their brothers and the leadership of the association.

"We feel constrained to release this statement stating the true state of security in Southern Kaduna, so as to set the records straight in the overall interest of peace and posterity,"the statement said

Going further,the Southern Kaduna Peace Practitioners Network,said:"As a people who are predominantly Christians, the only thing that  can set us free is the truth no matter whose interest is hurt or affected."

"We wish to counter the blatant, malicious and day  light fabricated lies by our brother, Samuel Achi, the President of Atyap Development Association against the military and in particular the Commander of the military formation in charge of peace enforcement in Southern Kaduna,Brigadier General Timothy Opurum.

"We are disappointed in our brother, Mr Achi that he left the  true cause of the renewed conflict behind only to blame a man and his team who are doing everything possible to protect our people. The Commander and his team,no doubt, have put in all the available  strength and capabilities in emplacing peace in our area without any single iota of bias.

"We naturally wouldn’t have delved into the matter since the military itself is capable of defending themselves. However, we are conscience bound to rise in their defence and also speak the truth in the interest of patriotism and God's sake," the group added.

While noting that it condemns "in the strongest terms the senseless and inhuman attacks that have been going on in our communities by suspected criminal herders and their accomplices"SOKIPEP said the attacks are "reprehensible and must be condemned by all men of goodwill. "

SOKIPEP statement read further:"While not trying to justify the killing of human beings for any reason or have alibi for the killers,we must look at the criminal activities of some of our farmers and youths who have over time, deliberately ignited these attacks by poisoning cattle belonging to herders without any form of provocation or farm trespass, which should be ordinarily reported to the security agencies.

"We have noted that sometimes, these people
even silently killed the cattle rearers when there is an encroachment.

"Southern Kaduna has been peaceful for more than nine months due to the combine efforts of the military task force,Operation Safe Haven and other security agencies and the entire stakeholders in the Southern Kaduna peace building community, until recently when there was the poisoning of over 70 cows and the killing of a herder at Ugwan Mai Juju.

"Poisoning of cows have become a daily trend in our local communities,even when there is a clear warning that our people shouldn’t take laws into their hands no matter the provocation. In spite of this we allow our youths carry out these criminal acts unchecked and when the security agencies come to arrest them, we hide and protect them. We must stop this forthwith.

"The attacks by suspected criminal herdsmen which led to the death of several people in some Southern Kaduna communities are highly condemnable and must stop henceforth. We the native associations must also be bold enough to tell our people in the local communities to avoid conduct that are likely to cause breach of peace no matter the provocation.

"Our leaders must be bold enough to  rise up to the challenge of speaking truth to the youths to stop these criminal acts of cow poisoning and isolated killings of the herders while grazing. If there is any encroachment or infractions, they should quickly report to the security agencies."

The group said,"Instead of vilifying the Commander of Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna for speaking the truth, we should strive to become genuine peace ambassadors."

SOKIPEP said the OPSH Commander ,Brig. General Timothy Opurum "spoke the whole truth on the security situation in the area and from all available records, the  Commander and his men have not done anything wrong "in any area in the protection of lives and properties in Southern Kaduna."

"He has lost several officers and men while trying to protect our people during some of these senseless attacks. It is therefore, an act of mere wickedness for our brothers in the Atyap Community Development Association to leave the substance which is outright  criminality to face an innocent man who is doing his work professionally," it said.

To this end, SOKIPEP said,"We therefore, call on the international communities and all Nigerians to ignore the blantant and baseless allegations against the Commander and the military outfit, Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna."

Hon Betara An Efficient Administrator Deserves To Be Next Speaker - Arewa Youth Forum

The Arewa Youth Forum (AYF), the Premier umbrella platform of all youth organisations in  the North and FCT-Abuja, which has structures in the 19 Northern states, some Southern States and the diaspora has made a strong case for Honourable Aliyu Mukhtar Betara, ‘The  Golden Boy’ to be voted as the Speaker of the 10th National Assembly.
This was contained in a statement signed by AYF President, Ahmed Mohammed Zagi, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday April 4, 2023, explaining why Honourable Betara who is representing  Biu/Bayo/Shani Federal Constituency and Chairman House  Committee on Appropriation was endorsed.

"The role in which Hon. Betara played in the 9th Assembly is that of a proficient and efficient administrator who was fair, just,
logical and sincere in the appropriation of resources for the improvement of the living
standard of Nigerians and the development of critical sectors of the economy.

"Despite obvious challenges, Hon. Betera was able to pass through the hard concrete wall with his
name printed in crystal gold," AYF said.

The group said that they have been closely following with keen interest
the unfolding developments in the   country, especially as relates to the buildup to the  election of the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, especially the Green Chamber.

They explained further that the  pivotal role that Honourable Betara  played has earned him deep love, trust, respect and confidence from his colleagues in the Green Chamber.

"No doubt, and from our conclusion, that is why his ambition to become the next Speaker of the House of Representatives is receiving  overwhelming support and endorsement from both returning and new members of the
parliament across political party bifurcation.

"As a person, Hon. Betara iswell known to be a humble, intelligent, and smart persona with the wisdom of the ancients," the statement said.

According to them, "He  is friendly, generous, easy going and accessible and always ensures fairness, transparency and logic in the discharge of his official
responsibility as Appropriation Committee Chairman.In short, most members of the 9th
Assembly have openly confessed on several occasions that Hon. Betara is the reason behind their success and sterling performance in their various constituencies as regards  appropriation of fund (envelope) for the execution of projects in the various Committees
they represent.

"Already a veteran in both chambers of the NASS, Hon. Betara has been in the House since 2007," the statement explained.

AYF recalls that Betara has held several strategic positions such as Chairman of the Sub committee on NDIC, Banking and Currency, Member of the House Committee on Interior  and was later appointed Chairman of the Sub-committee on Customs, Immigration and  Prisons Pension Office between 2007 and 2011.

"He also served as Chairman of, the  House Committee on the Army in the 7th Assembly (2011 to 2015) and Chairman of the House Committee on Defence from 2015 –2019 before his current position as Chairman of, the House Committee on Appropriations (2019-2023).

"Hon. Betara has built bridges and the cultivated seed of friendship over time in the National Assembly across party, religious and ethnic lines.

 "He has gathered ample legislative experience over the years and equally established a reputation for  methodological versatility in the House of Representatives, which has baked and  prepared him for the onerous obligation of the Speakership Position that he is contesting  for," they argued.

According to the statement, Betara's  administrative acumen, competence, credibility, and legislative experience combined
with his acceptability by the majority of the returning and newly elected members of the House of Representatives stands him out among other contestants and positioned him as the man to win the Speakership Position of the 10th Assembly once the election is
held.

They averred that the  incoming administration of Asiwaju/Shettima does not need to be reminded that the hope of Nigerians is extremely high and they are expecting nothing short of excellent performance from the government.

"The executive arm of government, on the other hand,  cannot function effectively without the complement and support of robust and sound
legislation and oversights from the legislature.

"Therefore, the cadre or calibre of “who”  becomes “who” in the Leadership of the 10th Assembly should neither be taken for
granted nor seem as business as usual where competence and credibility are often sacrificed on the alter of zoning, religious or ethnic equation.

"The executive, judiciary and legislative arms of government are partners in the business  of governance standing on a tripod. If any leg of the tripod becomes faulty through the wrong recruitment of its leadership, there will certainly be an overbearing effect and consequence on the other legs of the tripod.

"Consequent to the above, which is a tip of the iceberg on the many reasons why Hon. Betera is the man fit for the job, the AYF hereby, endorses the ‘Golden Boy’ to lead the Green Chamber as Speaker in the 10th National Assembly," they submitted.

They further argued that, "no leader among all of those  aspiring has his selflessness, integrity, fear of God as a motivating principle and a
consciousness, resolute and uncompromising drive to face the battle and national challenges with all his might and prowess.

"This resolution of endorsement was made by all structures of AYF in Nigeria and the Diaspora.
We therefore call on all and sundry especially, old and new members of the Green Chamber to support the aspiration and candidature of Hon. Aliyu Mukhtar Betara as Speaker so that Nigeria "go better for the Nigerian Citizens "through qualitative and sound legislation," they stressed.

They said their endorsement is hinged on their patriotic zeal for Nigeria.

"As an organisation that champions the course of good governance through qualitative  representations we are compelled to voice out our resolutions on who to drum our support  for and endorsement to serve as Speaker in the 10th National Assembly, which is  expected to be officially inaugurated in June.

"Following our deep and wider consultations as well as sampling of vital opinions that cut  across the length and breadth of the country, also among members of the Green Chamber  on who does the cap fit for the Speakership position, we have come to the conclusion  that one personality stands out among all that person is Hon. Aliyu Mukhtar Betara, ‘The  Golden Boy’;

"The experienced legislator who is tailor-made for the job. Our reasons  abound!

"From the constituency front, it is a well-known fact that Hon. Betara has exceeded expectations in his constituency in terms of infrastructural development (constituency  projects execution), empowerment and effective representation.

"No surprise he was given
the mandate by his people for an unprecedented fifth term to represent the constituency.

"Top experts and students of business management or financial management can speak
correctly on the importance of having a prudent and proficient “administrator” or “manager” of human/resources in an organisation".

Eid El Fitri: Northern Christian Youth Professionals Greets President Elect, urges Tinubu To Assemble Credible Team To Tackle Nigeria's Problems

• don't Compromise merit, NCYP task President Elect

As Nigerian Muslims join the rest of the Muslim Faithfuls in marking Eid El Fitri celebration,  President - Elect, Bola Ahmad Tinubu have reminded that Nigerians voted for him based on his track record during his tenure as the Governor of Lagos State, therefore, he should not compromise his sterling leadership quality .

The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) in a goodwill message to the President- Elect which was signed by its national leader, Isaac Abrak and made available to media house,used the occasion to extend its heartfelt greetings and felicitations to President Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The statement furthers states

"As we celebrate with Tinubu, we remind him that he was elected by Nigerians because of his legacy as Lagos state governor, where he provided good governance to all the people of Lagos. Tinubu transformed Lagos into one of the biggest economies in Africa because he assembled a team of people who understood his God-given call for service to humanity. This cabinet was made up of Nigerians drawn from all ethnic and religious backgrounds based on merit.

"We strongly remind the President Elect not to compromise on this standard as he chooses his kitchen cabinet, advisers, and other government principals. This standard is what Nigerians voted for in him, and they do not expect anything less but even better.

The group also task the incoming President to be mindful of the security and economic hardships that have bedeviled Nigerians while urging him to hit the ground running with policies aimed at ameliorating these hardships  with the help of carefully assembled team members

"The NCYP recognizes that Tinubu's presidency is coming at a time when the Nigerian people have been stretched by economic and security hardships to the highest limit. As such, the country cannot afford to be stretched beyond its elastic limit.

"Thus, only a team with the character of selfless service and spirit of  patriotism like that of Tinubu's days in the Lagos government can hit the ground running, improving the living conditions of all Nigerians, uniting the country, and setting it on the path of transforming into the great nation envisioned by our founding fathers.
