Farida Abubakar Surges Ahead As Govt House Public Affairs Gives Candidate Befitting Reception

Barely two days to the election of executives that will lead the Kaduna State Council of the NIgeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), an influential bloc, Department of Public Affairs Govt House,  has vowed to support only a candidate that will bring progress to the council through unity of purpose.

Chairman of the department, Abdullahi Isyaku made the declaration, when the Farida Abubakar Campaign Team visited them at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Tuesday December 14, 2021.

"We at the Department of Public Affairs are not many, but we are united.

"What we are after is the policy of the candidates and how are you going to transform NUJ," he said.

Speaking further, he said, "We did not promise her, we will not promise you, but we will do our best  in ensuring an experienced and credible candidate emerges," he said.

Earlier in her remarks, Farida Abubakar said that she is basing her campaign on three key policies which are unity, transparency and democratic tenets.

"I am not going to make promises, but to assure you that I will be transparent and whatever decision I will take will be congress decision.

"If voted in, the first thing I will do is call for congress to chart the way forward.

"Let all our voices be heard, we don't want to go into crisis,  we just want a peaceful election," she said.

Farida Abubakar explained that said she was not there for campaign, but to say thank you because she is optimistic of  getting their support.

"I am appealing to you, if there would be an election to come and vote for me," she pleaded.

In her vote of thanks, Deputy Director General Team Farida, Hajiya Daharatu Aliyu said that, "we are out for a rancour free inauguration or election.

"We are not trying to say don't vote the other candidate, but when making choice, note that experience matters.

"Also vote the candidate that will respect you and the journalism profession," she charged.
