Kaduna Golf Club To Plant 2000 Trees as it Marks it's Centenary



As activities marking the  Centenary Anniversary of the Kaduna Golf Club (KGC) 1921 began on Monday, plans to plant no fewer than 2,000 trees has been unveiled.

Board of Trustees (BoT) member of the club, Architect Mohammed Dewu expressed this at a world press conference kick-starting activities of the Centenary Anniversary, held at the Sir Lucky Omoluwa Hall on Monday December 13, 2021.

"My appeal to members, if you can donate at least ten trees per annum, it will change this place.

"Donate and nurture it to grow. Please this is my request for the celebration of 100 years," he charged 

Speaking further, he said that Kaduna Golf Club remains one of the best in the country in terms of standard course and facilities.

"KGC has standards. You go round the club, you will see difference," he said.

Speaking earlier, Captain of KGC,  Engineer Aminu Bagudu  thanked members of the club, Kaduna State Government and others who contributed towards the Centenary Anniversary.

"We have seen massive support from our members who came forward to demonstrate
that this is their celebration by contributing in financing this event.

"We are equally grateful to the Corporate Organizations and individuals who came out to wish us well and support us financially. 

"These include the following:
Kaduna State Government, 
NNPC, Access Bank, Polaris bank, Sahara Energy, Pinnacle Communications Ltd
Leadway Assurance, Hydrodive Nigeria Ltd, Aspro Petra Energy," he said. 

He however, said that they are expecting pledged support to be redeemed as the activities progress.


According to him, the week-long event began on  Monday December 13 with a  Children Golf Clinic/Tournament.

On Tuesday 14th, there will be a 
Caddies / Staff Golf Tournament, 
Wednesday features Centenary Charity Work / Orphanages Visitation, while  on Wednesday,  the much anticipated Centenary Tree Planting will be held.

Thursday will see Invited Professionals & CAT 1 Golf Tournament,  Friday will witness
Centenary Golf Tournament (Ladies And Veterans), while activities will climax on Saturday with the staging of the  Centenary Golf Tournament (Men).

Later  Saturday,  there will be an Award Night by 7:00pm as well as 
 Centenary Book Launch.

Similarly,  prizes presentation/closing ceremony is also slated for same day.

The captain stressed that indeed any entity that clocks 100 years needs to beat its chest with pride and mark it with fun fare. 

"For us its also time for reflection and set agenda for another 100 years. 

"Past officials laid foundation that enable us to mark this occasion. We are grateful for their
foresight. 

"We are in trying times both economically and otherwise, but happy to announce that Kaduna State agreed to not only partner with us but support us through
these activities, we are humbled and say a big thank you," he added.

He therefore,  invited the golfing family and the general public to come and join them in this epoch- making event
