Islamic Clerics Call For NSA, Service Chiefs' Sack

...vow to mobilise against APC in next year's general elections

...cry out over worsening insecurity in North

...insists President Buhari good leader

For the umpteenth time, some Islamic Clerics have called for the immediate sack, and subsequent replacement of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd), and all the Service Chiefs, saying their continuous stay not helping the security situation in the country.

The clerics, who operate under the canopy of Conference Of Concerned Islamic Clerics In Nigeria (CCICN), maintained that the NSA, as well as the military, and security heads, have reached their wits' end, as far as the national security management is concerned.

Consequently, the clerics called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgent national importance, emplace a new national security architecture.

This, they argued, will resolve the intricacies surrounding banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes assailing the Nigerian State.

In a statement signed by Shiekh Muhammadu Ibrahim Anka. and Mallam Usman Pategi, National Coordinator, and National Secretary respectively, (CCICN lamented the fact that the Northern region was at the worse-hit, hence their consistent position.

"The irreducible minimum we demand, in the face of worsening insecurity in the country, particularly the North, is the immediate and unconditional sack of the NSA, Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd), and all the Service Chiefs.

"Our insistence on the sack of the service Chiefs, and an emplacement of a new national security architecture, is borne out of the need to bring fresh perspectives to bear on security management.

"As Islamic Scholars, we cannot pretend to say that all is well, considering the level of insecurity in our region, occasioned by terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent tendencies", the statement read in part..

To underscore their seriousness, the scholars threatened to mobilise against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2023 general elections, unless urgent steps were taken to rewrite the security situation in the country.

The statement reads in full: "We will not hesitate to mobilise our people against the APC in next year's elections, if our dear President fails to appoint new set of service Chiefs, including a new NSA.

"Despite the deplorable state of security in the North and Nigeria some gullible Northern cleric and Emirs are said to be prevailing on the president not to hid to voice of the masses which are calling for the  sack of  the current crop of NSA and Service and replace them with more competent officers.                                                                                    "We call on Mr president not listened to this enemies of the country he should immediately Sack this out of ideas personnel without further delay.

"What's is looking like a relative calm  in the country today is not the absence of insecurity but a deliberate intimidation of the media and wasting task payers money to gag the some media houses .

"The reality on ground in the Nigeria is that,  no part of Nigeria and especially the North is safe.

"We challenge anyone who is saying the North is now safe even any of the service chiefs to  drive by road without any Escorts from Abuja to kano  lets see.

"We are therefore categorically informing the president that if no practical action is taken to sincerely improve security in the North, We as The coalition of Islamic cleric  mobilise people across the entire North to vote against APC and its candidates come 2023.

"We are doubly sure that they President is not getting sincere briefing from the NSA and his service chiefs that's why we have come to Abuja for the second time within  a month to meet with some key Government officials to let them know  the true situation of things in the  North as  unbiased stakeholders who are only concerned about the welfare of our people.

"The North  is almost lost to the bandits and there's every need to urgently reclaim it.                                                        We trust in the ability of the president to still redeem his name and administration before he leaves in 2023.

"We therefore Join our voice with the several concerned Nigeria, who have been calling for the sack of the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd), and all the service chiefs  and replace them  with competent professionals, who will do this work with zeal and accountability.

"We demand their immediate sack   obviously   this crop of service chiefs seems to have lost ideas on how to turn things around."
