May Day: Labour Says Workers Must Participate in Politics

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kaduna State Council has advocated full participation of workers in both partisan and non partisan politics to support politicians that will protect their interest.
Chairperson of the state Congress, Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman stated this while presenting his May Day speech at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
He emphasized that NLC Kaduna State Council would only support politicians that would pledge to serve their interest and the interest of all people in the state.
Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman also lamented the delay in salaries of primary school teachers and workers of primary healthcare and the local government staff whom in most cases, only receive their salaries at the end of preceding  months which according to him, is unacceptable.
He fury  expressed worries over the plight of the pensioners in the state particularly the delay in payment of their pensions allowance and the extended verification and clearance that caused unwarranted hardship to them.
The Chairperson commended Kaduna State for the giant strides in infrastructural development,  more especially at Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria, while  however, reminding that good governance is beyond infrastructural development alone, but more needed to be in the areas of citizens participation in governance, social justice, strict observation of rule of law, equity and adequate security.
He called on Kaduna State Government to change its outdated style of hostility in industrial relationship and embrace the new world order of tripartite and social dialogue on matters of workers right and freedom.
In attendance include the representative of Head of Service, Senator Shehu Sani.and former executives of NLC Kaduna.
