2023: Fayemi Promises To Build APC Institute For Grooming Leaders

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Dr Kayode Fayemi has promised to build a political school for his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), should he clinch its presidential ticket and go ahead to win next year's presidential election.

Fayemi, one of the frontline contenders in the race for the APC presidential ticket disclosed this Monday in Abuja when he received members of the National Prosperity Movement from the Northeast and Northwest.

He said; "Invigorating our elected party structures will also involve a much closer attention to our programmes and policies. To this end, I am committed to ensuring that every year, our party convenes a policy conference to review the progress we have made in carrying out our programmes and recalibrating our objectives and strategy in accordance with changing circumstances. The project of an APC party school will also enjoy a breadth of life under my watch and used effectively for the induction and training of our officials, as well as leadership grooming and mentorship.

"Furthermore, I intend to work with our governors to transform the Progressive Governor’s Forum (PGF) into a formidable autonomous body for policy advice in the administration of national affairs and the promotion of baseline standards in the management of the states controlled by our party. Similar platforms for the Speakers of our State Houses of Assembly and Chairs of our local government councils will enjoy my support to become active fora for consultation, coordination, and harmonization".

Fayemi said he is also acutely aware of "the need for us to continue to nurture internal party democracy operationalized within boundaries of civil contestation and responsible dissent to which we must all subscribe".

Promising to work with APC's elected officials from the ward to the national level to ensure that party members are actively socialised into her vision, principles, programmes, and policies, the governor added that mechanisms for strengthening the resource base and rewards system of the party will be put in place.

According to him, the initiative would ensure that elected officials, employees, volunteers, and members who service the various structures of the party are able to carry out their work with predictability, integrity, and consistency.
