Poultry Farmers Urged To Always Consult Vet. Doctors To Avoid Waste In Investment




The Chairman of Poultry Association of Nigeria PAN Musa Bala has urged Poultry Farmers in Nigeria particularly in Kaduna State to be consulting experienced poultry Veterinarians in other to avoid colossal waste in the business. 
Bala gave this advice in an interview in Kaduna shortly after  a one day sensitisation workshop on Poultry production with the Theme: Efficiency and Profitably in Poultry Production- Counting the Dots been organized by Vetco  Livestock's Solutions in conjunction Adamore Nigeria Ltd. 
The Chairman said that "We have been sensitising them from time to time that failure to consultant experienced Poultry Veterinarians, their investment in the industry would amount to wastage. "
"Without consulting the Poultry Veterinarians is like throwing away their investment, adding that the experienced Poultry Veterinarians should also work well anywhare they were employed. " 
According to him, "We have a serious problem in Poultry industry, saying that the industry employ millions of people directly and millions of people indirectly as well as, train millions of people especially the youths. "
The Chairman  further explained that "We contribute heavily in enhancing national food security. "
Also in an interview, Poultry Veterinarians expert Dr James Baba Wageti concurred with the PAN Kaduna State Chairman, saying although consulting the Poultry Veterinarians is very expensive, but we advise Poultry Farmers to be consulting them so that to give them expert advice on how to treat their birds and avoid lost, most of problem, is due to random treatment. 
He added, some of the Poultry Farmers are doing the business blindly, saying that there is need for them also to understand the importance of weighing their bird as well as, monitor body weight and deformity of their birds. 
The Veterinarians suggested that Poultry Farmers in Nigeria should come together and lobby the National Assembly members to intervene in the industry by  regulating it as the birds are dying because of diseases. 
He then noted that some of the Poultry Farms are very closed to each other, pointing out that a commercial Poultry Farm by standard is supposed to be one kilometer apart so,  we need regulation in the industry
