A Coalition of over 200 civil society organisations (CSOs) in the country, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgent national importance, sack the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Mohammed Babagana Monguno (retd), alongside all the Service Chiefs, over the worsening state of insecurity.
The coalition, operating under the aegis of National Coalition of Civil Society for Peace and Security made the call in Abuja, the nation's capital, at the end of an emergency meeting held to review the current state of the nation.
In a statement jointly signed by Dr. Umar Abdulkadir (National President), and Dr Gbenga Oshinowo (National Secretary), the coalition said the deteriorating security situation is such that requires drastic action on the part of President Buhari, who is the Commander-in-Chief (C-in-Chief) of the Armed Forces.
To buttress their position, members of the coalition drew attention to the Tuesday, July 5 attack on the Kuje Medium Security Correctional Centre, the attack on soldiers of the Presidential Guards Brigade - all in the FCT: which culminated in the lose of lives, as well as destruction of property.
