Volleyball Getting More Fans Than Football - Nimrod

President of the NIgeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod  is excited that the game of volleyball is beginning to get more spectators than football.

Nimrod expressed this, when addressing players and officials at a technical session ahead of the serving off of the 2021 President Beach Volleyball Senior Male/Female and U-19 Boys and Girls Cup at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna on Monday.

"Over the weekend, there was a football competition and volleyball championship going on simultaneously at the Ribadu Cantonment Sports Complex. Most of the spectators shunned  football and thronged the volleyball courts," he said.

He told the participants that immediately after the beach competition, camping tour in West Africa will begin.

"I spoke with Ghana and they agreed for us to spend two weeks camp there," he added.

He prayed for an injury free competition.

In an interview with newsmen after addressing participants, he said the attendance at the technical meeting is massive.

"Everybody wants to represent Nigeria at Tokyo Olympics both old and young.

"I am.happy to see the old players coming back from volleyball to beach volleyball, it shows the game is growing," he added.

On what is expected at the beach volleyball competition, he said the players and officials are in high spirits and are expected to put up a good show.

"Within the next three days we will see massive competition taking place both day and night.

"We are already preparing to go to camp in Ghana because we want to get Africa sole ticket.

"We are ready for African countries, we are not happy we missed ticket for Rio Dejaneiro," he submitted.
