Less than a week to the gubernatorial elections in the country, the  governorship candidate of the People's Redemption Party, (PRP)  in Kaduna State, Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi has refuted allegations that he stepped down his political ambition  in favour of a political party in the state

In an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday, shortly after he returned from campaign tours along with  his team, Makarfi confirmed that he would indeed  contest the governorship election in Kaduna, adding he is optimistic that the PRP would emerge victorious at end of process

The governorship hopeful said  that it will amount to disappointing late Balarabe Musa, Aminu Kano and other founding fathers of PRP  should be step down for any party for the governorship election.

“Some political parties made some remarks that we should step down for them. We not step down for any political party. We want to lead and emancipate the people as Balarabe Musa did in the 70s and 80s.

“This is my first outing as a governorship candidate in Kaduna State. So it will not be proper for me to step down for any political party.

“For the past nine days we have been campaigning across the local government areas in the State.

"We are confident that people across the 23 Local government areas of Kaduna State will support us. So we are confident that PRP can form the next government.

“We are confident that we will win the governorship. And we want to call on the  chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC)   to give the people of kaduna  hope of fair, free and credible elections. And We also call on the good people of Kaduna to come out enmass to vote PRP next Saturday,” Makarfi said.

While fielding questions from journalists, he also debunked allegations of financial mismanagement levied against him

"After I left the Government of Nasiru El Rufai, I was investigated  by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) , the Directorate of State Security ( DSS )  and I came out clean

"Shortly afterwards, I got a job with the  Nigeria Financial and Intelligence Unit ( NFIU), I resigned  few years later  to join the PRP he  concluded
