Less than a week to the gubernatorial elections in the country, the governorship candidate of the People's Redemption Party, (PRP) in Kaduna State, Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi has refuted allegations that he stepped down his political ambition in favour of a political party in the state
In an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday, shortly after he returned from campaign tours along with his team, Makarfi confirmed that he would indeed contest the governorship election in Kaduna, adding he is optimistic that the PRP would emerge victorious at end of process
The governorship hopeful said that it will amount to disappointing late Balarabe Musa, Aminu Kano and other founding fathers of PRP should be step down for any party for the governorship election.
“Some political parties made some remarks that we should step down for them. We not step down for any political party. We want to lead and emancipate the people as Balarabe Musa did in the 70s and 80s.
“This is my first outing as a governorship candidate in Kaduna State. So it will not be proper for me to step down for any political party.
“For the past nine days we have been campaigning across the local government areas in the State.
"We are confident that people across the 23 Local government areas of Kaduna State will support us. So we are confident that PRP can form the next government.
“We are confident that we will win the governorship. And we want to call on the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) to give the people of kaduna hope of fair, free and credible elections. And We also call on the good people of Kaduna to come out enmass to vote PRP next Saturday,” Makarfi said.
While fielding questions from journalists, he also debunked allegations of financial mismanagement levied against him
