Gov'norship Polls Come Out Massively and Vote , Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organisation Urges Nigerians

By Mike Odeh James

Ahead of the March 11 governorship election, apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has urged Nigerians to keep faith with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The Igbo group spoke through a statement issued by its national President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike.

He said with the Presidential and National Assembly elections concluded, the electoral umpire had learnt some lessons and would improve on the next round of polls.

The Igbo group said despite the shortcomings observed in the election, it was an improvement on the 2019 general elections.

According to him, “the Presidential and National Assembly elections were not completely flawed. There was a great improvement in the electoral process and this explains some of the shocking results, with even sitting governors losing elections.

“This goes to show that the Feb. 25 elections were not completely a flawed process as some people make it look.

“Preparatory to the March 11 polls, it has become expedient to urge Nigerians to come out en-masse and vote for candidates of their choice.

“The INEC would definitely improve upon what it did in the last election. There are many positives, many take-away from that exercise. The observed lapses would also be addressed.”
