One of Africa's foremost human rights activist, Comrade Kennedy Iyere has condemned what he termed as "satanic oppression" against the supporters of Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi vowing to resist any move that would alienate deny Obi's supporters of their rights to vote.
Comrade Iyere spoke to newsmen shortly after he visited Peter Obi in Abuja. The meeting which lasted for over thirty minutes and was said to be fruitful according to a close ally of the human right activist .
While fielding questions from journalists, Iyere revealed that the Central Bank of Nigeria had frozen the bank account of Take Back Naija, one of the support groups for Peter Obi.
"I spoke with the convener of takebacknaija, Jack and he told me that the Central Bank has frozen the account of the group
He said he went to the bank yesterday to do some transaction and found out the account of his support group was blocked .He tried to reach out to the bank but was told that it was a directive from the central Bank
"We know that a time like this would come when those close to the powers that be would start witchhunting the supporters of the largest social movement, that is the Peter Obi supporters but we are ready for them. When we are out, they would know that are mean business
Reacting further to what nature of action would his movement take, the Convener of the 40 million ballot movement said,
" We shall resist them by galvanizing a global protest against them and upturn all those satanic strategies put in place again Peter Obi .
We shall mobilise against any technical rigging whether by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Security forces or by the central bank to deplete the youths support for Obi , we shall vehemently opposed such plots
The foremost right activist reiterated his earlier warning that the civil society groups in the country would launch anti government protest if the government continues to hatch sinister plots or ploys to stop youths from supporting Peter Obi .
"We shall organize an anti government protest that is lawful and we shall resist them vehemently. We shall obidiently resist them and we shall overcome them.
